Is there a term for games that are only really completed by a robust after-market scene? I mean how like Mythic Bastionland is necessarily supplemented by the creator's blog posts, or like how Curse of Strahd is popularly supplemented by Reloaded or other mods.

On the Mork Borg discord, there is frequent and perennial discussion about how you're supposed to play the game. The book is complete. It's free even, but it doesn't describe the intended culture of play, or common techniques that are almost a given when you ask people but are not found in the book

My first five ttrpgs in the order I played them: 1. Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying 2. Paranoia 3. Dnd 3.5 4. Pathfinder 1e 5. Pendragon 5e

My first five ttrpgs in the order I played them and and remember: 1. Mutant 2. Freeform, grid paper and no rules 3. Drakar och Demoner 4. Some homemade bs almost a 1:1 copy of Might and Magic VII 5. probably Kult But I was mainly doing LARPs at the time because I was a Nerd nerd.

I got to play this at Breakout earlier this year and it was great fun. Had no idea what I was in for when I sat down and walked away wanting the campaign. Due to my "proclivities" I already have too many poker chips and dice to require the big bundle but you should check it out.

Every year, I reread the LotR trilogy. This last year's reread amped me up and I started keying Middle-earth 12 miles at a time Concurrently, without meaning to, I wrote a game to run the hexcrawl I call it Lore - a Lord of the Rings Adventure Game retroclone Here's what I think is fun about it🧵

Promote your game here. MÖRK BORG is a pitch-black, rules-light apocalyptic fantasy RPG about scum and fools seeking redemption, forgiveness or the last remaining riches in a bleak, dying world. Inspired by extreme metal music, it's grimdark turned to 11. A spiked flail to the face. morkborg.com

They should make an rpg subreddit that doesn't hate the people making them lol

Non-RPG design that could inspire RPG design. 1. These could be NPCs, locations, magic items or powers. Presented in three-column with an image for each.

And one final thought: Ozzy going out after giving an emotional final performance that raised a ton of money for charity is more spiritually uplifting and did more genuine good than anything any televangelist and religious grifter who railed against him ever did combined.

I unfortunately listen to a lot of call-in radio, and the average Canadian person believes the US will suddenly realize the error of their ways. Ain't like that. I don't know where else to put this - the orange man isn't *failing* to run a nation. He is *succeeding* at profiting himself and allies.

I get really frustrated with people who say they didn't like I SAW THE TV GLOW because they're not trans so it just wasn't for them. I'm as cis het as they come and that movie spoke to my soul.

I cannot overstate how fuckin great Brandon Nickerson's free fonts are. If you aren't already following him on IG, you should do that (bmnicks) He puts out really stellar typefaces that work with Affinity for free every week or so. They're all over HyperMall

The truly suspicious bit is that, nevermind that one pastry is actually seven timbits, but that there's like a plain ass white bagel thrown on top? Like the decadence of the others had to be offset so as to avoid God's punishment.

Thread dump of thoughts concerning the ttrpgs I played at Phantasm this past weekend - Index Card RPG: I liked the way different die sizes are used for different scales of effort. The doom die is an interesting tool. It makes adventuring feel very dangerous. I only touched 1 index card.

New Game In Development I'm Not Sure I'm Supposed To Talk About So I Won't Give Details- The guy beside me was bursting with snot and hacking up his lung and should not have been out in public and I was too polite (negative) to say anything. Maybe cons are a bad idea altogether? Fun game though!

Mork Borg: Ran adventure I've never done, one of the official zines. They're fun to read but find even the celebrated modules need extra work or improv to turn into actual adventures, which I'm comfortable with, but rabid fans (positive) don't seem to acknowledge, or they LIKE it, the masochists.

Dragonslayer - Seems like the author's favorite bits of 3.5 and older dnd. Not too exciting for me but seemed to really satisfy trad-heads and min-maxers. Title suggests it's cooler than dnd but it's only -as- cool.
