My poem "The Eyes in The Night" is featured in the 12 Months 12 Stories podcast's Halloween special, along with other great poets and performers. Check it out for something spooky this Halloween season. #horror

buzzsprout.comTrick or Treat! - 12Months 12StoriesIt's spooky season! And our 40th episode! So as a treat - definitely a treat, not a trick! We present to you our spine-chilling, hide-behind-the-sofa, don't-be-scared! Halloween episode 2026!&nbs...

It's always been a Tory rag, but, credit where due, they at least had good writing (until the recent culture war ragebait). But this just the last nail in the coffin; what is journalism without reliablity, expertise, facts, or even journalists? Why would I read something you didn't write?

Full story: The Telegraph is making up to 100 job cuts as it cites an ambition to transform into a “global, AI-powered” business, almost four months after its takeover by Axel Springer pressgazette.co.uk/news/telegra...

Considering the history we have as a country (The Laundries, the Catholic Church, the demonisation of consent/condoms/sexuality), you'd would think we'd have learned by now why autonomy is important... But then again, what has actually changed since then? Nothing.

In one afternoon FF/FG ministers came down like a tonne of bricks on a rape crisis centre when they spent weeks hiding while Musk's Nazi website they use was producing CSAM. Like many of you, I really really hate these bastards.

I'm reading at the Samhain Harvest book launch on the 25th. If you like #poetry, #art, #Halloween, and alcohol (not free (I know, I'm pissed as well)), then come on down.

Storytelling is one of the last sacred things in the world. That’s why they mock it, because they know what it can do. They know that stories teach people how to listen, remember, resist and remain human. And anything that teaches people how to feel is a threat to a world built on forgetting.

Shout out to the random Romanians listening to the Her County podcast. It's always fascinating seeing how far something you've made can travel without you noticing. Vă mulțumesc!

It's crazy how for years (decades at this point) attention was said to be the skill of the future that would put you heads and shoulders above everyone, yet people have just dived head first into actively handicapping themselves with AI. It's like cutting off a leg in the middle of a race.

Every year Ireland gets stern warnings about how reliant it is on corpo tax revenue and every year it cuts its other tax nets to make that reliance worse.

Harris says there will be a personal income tax package of €1.3 billion in this year's budget. The standard rate cut-off will rise by €2,500 to €46,500 per person. The entry threshold for USC 3% band to rise by €1,600 from €28,700 to €30,300.

A tenner a week for ordinary people in #Budget27 while corporations get €186 million in Capital Gains Tax reductions, €120 million in R&D tax credits. And if you have a shedsit, it's now called a "Designated Auxiliary Dwelling" and you don't have to pay any taxes on it!

I finished Who's Afraid of Gender. 4/5. Personally, I think Butler presumes readers are well versed in Gender Studies enough to get a lot of the jargon. It's my mistake jumping in the deep end unknowingly, but I think we need a "Dummies Guide to Gender". Reccomended read though.

Butler does a great job tying all anti-progressive movements together (religious orgs, conservative parties), showing a global network of bigotry, but Butlers focus is more on debunking (very succinctly) anti-trans myths and arguments.

Theory: Creating genre-changing works (Monthy Python, Harry Potter, Fr. Ted, etc) takes such a mental toll that you collapse like a star into online bigotry.

Weird hill I will die on: seasons should be capitalised. What the fuck do you mean it's "autumn" and not "Autumn?" Days of the week, months of the year, even time periods we capitalise, but we draw the line at Spring/Summer/Autumn(Fall)/Winter?

"Hi guys. Now that I know which way the wind is blowing, and my PR team have given me permission, let me saying how I really feel, within acceptable and popular terms, of course."

Business idea: Coffee that comes with a lighter so you can burn your tongue BEFORE you try to drink it. Think of the time you'd save! No more wasting coffee burning your tongue on the first sip.

"Daddy, Daddy! Can I pet the mineral?" "Of course, son! What is that, Uranium? Touch it as much as you want!"

EU Researcher Night in Ireland received almost €300k in EU funding (to run the one-day event in 2026 and again in 2027).

Recently they've changed minimum Leap card payments from €5 to €10. A fare, generally, is at €2. So with the hikes, not only will it cost more per trip but it devalues your €10. If you top up today and don't use it until after the change, it'll be as if government pickpocketed you.

Paul Murphy TD@paulmurphy.pbp.ie

Instead of encouraging people onto public transport, they are driving people off it! Lowering fares and moving to free public transport should be a no-brainer, instead they're doing the opposite. In one fell swoop they are worsening the cost of living and climate crises!

When you read Kraft’s statement, both this headline and the article it links to are enormously misleading. Kraft says he’s been asked to donate, doesn’t say he has, and doesn’t mention any charities. Readers could be forgiven for thinking Kraft had donated to the charities listed in the text.

I understand why it's important to favour empirical evidence over anecdotes, but the response to my generation and younger from the Irish government can't be taken any other way than "Well, would look at that. I guess they really weren't just lazy avacado toast muchers. Oh well, nothing I can do."

rte.ieYouth employment didn't fully recover from crash - reportYouth unemployment has reduced significantly since the financial crash, but the number of young people in employment has never fully recovered, according to a new report.

I think what's really concerning is how it's normalised this idea that for your 20s/30s, you're going to feel and be treated like a stunted adult; you're not going to have a solid career, savings, or financial literacy until you're, at best, close to 40 or over. There is a new lost generation.
