Far right protesters can walk into libraries to threaten people with a police escort and block roads asking brown skinned people for ID while the Gardai look on. The same Gardai will happily put a dozen leftie students in A+E for a week during an eviction protest. I hope this helps your analysis

“Polymarket, a major crypto-betting platform which is not currently regulated to operate in Ireland, also posted about it on Tuesday.” Why on earth is Polymarket posting about a DRCC video on consent? 🫠

Thanks to Ciara Ní Bhroin for writing this piece on the DRCC consent ad row - props to @aidanobrien.bsky.social who gets a mention www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/comm...

Claire was invited to give a Pride talk at my old workplace by her granddaughter in 2021. She delivered a very funny and sad account of transitioning in 1980s Ireland while running a business and holding public office. She was a true Dub and a courageous force for good. Just to add that what DRCC are talking about here is a long-standing, bog standard position in books about parenting and among child psychologists and social workers. This is something that was uncontroversial a quarter of a century ago.

Incredibly depressing to government ministers demeaning public information campaigns about consent based on right wing culture war trolling. That Jim shared his thoughts about how this ad was inappropriate on X is an irony too far

As I've said, I'm open to the debate on the Triple Lock, but the narrative uses to sell this doesn't hold water. We continue to send raw materials to Russia. We are removing supports for Ukrainian refugees. We refuse to sanction Israel. We allow US military at our airports. This isn't about peace.

Sad about BioWare but not too cut up about Mass Effect 4 being cancelled, they wrote themselves into so many corners with that franchise.

My opinion on Veilguard is more forgiving than most. I think they salvaged a pretty good plot out of the previous installments but the character work in that game is some of their worst.

"The girl from that weird music video 15 year ago" well I suppose technically yes in the same sense that Carly Rae Jepsen is the "Call Me Maybe" girl.

I, a member of the public, do not wish to see my fellow members of the public who teach my children, heal me if I am sick, who administer the state and so on left worse off due to inflation each year.

I'm sure he'll resolve this with the same canny political instincts he deployed during Jim Gavin's presidential campaign.

The British doing this exact thing helped turn the 1916 Rising from a failed insurrection into a genuine moral victory for the rebels.

I really don’t think a public execution by firing squad of a guy in a wheel chair is going to look how they expect it to look.

Once again, the greyhound industry received more funding than domestic violence services. There is no clearer indication of this governments priorities. There is plenty of luxurious spending in this budget, but it is not going to the people who are hardest hit and most pressed to the bone.

Once again, for the politicians, business leaders, and journalists still actively posting on X/Twitter: why? You're using a platform that's owned by someone who's trying to break up your country. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.

Every year Ireland gets stern warnings about how reliant it is on corpo tax revenue and every year it cuts its other tax nets to make that reliance worse.

The Journal@thejournal.ie

Harris says there will be a personal income tax package of €1.3 billion in this year's budget. The standard rate cut-off will rise by €2,500 to €46,500 per person. The entry threshold for USC 3% band to rise by €1,600 from €28,700 to €30,300.

If only we had some brutal fiscal correction in our nation's recent history to illustrate the hazards of propping up the Exchequer on a single industrial sector.

we don't have to budget by the seat of our pants like this. it's a mad way to run a country. the entire budgets of departments should not be up for negotiation once a year. how much public work hours are wasted every year lobbying for the budget

We've all heard of "robust" meetings, or a "full and frank exchange of views." Now we have a new contender: "concise," used when one party storms out of a meeting in high dudgeon after eight minutes. www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-41...

The Troubles in NI arose at least partly because people saw that protests against injustice were not working. In this respect, state-sanctioned unwelcome sectarian marches into a neighborhood is a reminder about which communities have been empowered to impose their values over others.
