Kirby explaining global democratic failings here? “Social & economic exclusion often becomes civic exclusion – & civic exhaustion...people are too tired & busy trying to keep their heads above water that they don’t have the time or energy to speak up about issues & hold those in power to account."

Makes sense #AusPol. "Mr Kirby argued poverty wasn’t simply an economic issue but a fundamental human rights matter that was holding people back from participating in democracy... When institutions become more responsive to the powerful than the vulnerable, public policies reflect that imbalance.”

I don't think I ever watched an episode of Star Trek (science fiction isn't my thing), but I thought casting a Russian while the Cold War was still raging, to make the point that humans would get along better in the future, was a lovely touch.

The reason why this woman did not know where she was born is familiar to every adopted person: We are given fake (“amended”) birth certificates that legally certify falsehoods about where and by whom we were born. So many of us have died, and will die, never having seen the originals. 🥚

Because this #adoptee did not know the circumstances of her birth until very recently, the US government has charged her with voting illegally. Intercountry adoptees are living on a knife’s edge in this cursed country of ours. apnews.com/article/syra...

If I was unclear, this is; Authors, Visual Artists & Song Writers Internationally. If the data centre is in Australia; you'd be dependent on the opt out system working/ being enforced, for your copyright to be respected.
