CIHR is an incredible Canadian institution and a truly excellent system, and I can't decide whether the attempted self-immolation 10 years ago or the ongoing slow starvation is sadder. But open programs are once again in a death spiral.

Due to my role at the Terry Fox Research Institute I no longer comment publically on CIHR but this largest funder of Canadian health research made an important statement today: cihr-irsc.gc.ca/e/54795.html and I can’t just watch this beloved agency crash.
