If you ask someone today to name the builder of Hadrian's Wall, they would give you a funny look. But historical memory is odd, and right up to the 1800s we forgot who built it. Until in 1840 John Hodgson, an obscure Northumbrian clergyman, published the LONGEST footnote in history... 1/22

I’m 40 hours in to #KCD2 and I just made it to Kutná Hora. I will compile my thoughts about this game eventually, but generally I think it’s an improvement on the first in every conceivable way. And I’m impressed they approached building a historical world in such a healthier way this time around.

I forgot to share this new episode of the podcast when it came out, but they say now is the second best time to plant a tree. We recorded it at @aseees.bsky.social 2022 in Chicago and I’m thrilled it finally gets to see the light of day in 2025: www.slavx.org/listen/episo...

I am part of the 2nd generation born in the so-called "Recovered Territories"– formerly German lands that are now part of Poland. In the spirit of Lower Silesian pride, I'd like to give you an idea of what it means to live surrounded by traces of a foreign population. 🧵🗃️

Currently reading this. Highly recommend if you played Pentiment and are a little freak who wants to learn about the class character of late medieval religious rebellions @jesawyer.bsky.social have you read?!

Saw Gladiator II last night and idk why we still let Ridley Scott make movies. Forgetting the history (you know Numidia, the city?) the movie was so poorly paced and none of the characters felt authentic. The whole thing was “remember Gladiator? That movie rocked” which is true but, so what?

In honor of Struggle for Freedom and Democracy Day here in the Czech Republic, here is a picture of a Berry Trix Yogurt-colored Supermarine Spitfire Butterfly sculpture they have up on Národní Třída.

I hate to keep going back to this but one time every conservative in America lost their entire shit because Michelle Obama said maybe kids could eat a vegetable at school sometimes and now there's a super mutant from Fallout about to run the FDA

You are up to date.
