Well, here's what I've been up to- I've been running a small private Beta on a new Light meter app for iOS and would love to get more feedback. It's called Metered. I should start with the reasons I created it and show you some screenshots. beta link is at the end of the thread.

Perhaps most of all, I really want Intuitive controls, so I don’t have to relearn the interface, or fumble around every time I go to use it. I’ve created a couple different user interface ideas- barrel-style rollers, and knobs that look and feel like something you’d find on your favorite camera.

I wanted to capture an image of the scene that shows me the meter readings, and important information about the film and camera I’m using - almost like a film photo journal- but I want to capture this stuff automatically so I don't have to type a bunch of things in every time I use it.

You can pick your film and camera and it automatically adjusts settings to match, and gives you the right aspect ratio. And of course you can add your own or customize if you use something unique.

I love shooting film, primarily on older manual cameras that don’t have built-in meters, but I never liked carrying a dedicated light meter. That’s why having one on your phone comes in really handy. I’ve used other apps for years, but never liked the user interface, or the workflow.

I think this fits into the Nature is Metal Category. On our Urban Wildlife walk on Friday we saw this Bald Eagle with its latest meal, a Gull. @morganheim.bsky.social the leader of our event spotted this right as we were wrapping up the walk - she's amazing btw, and you should go see her work.

I've been putting the new Sony 400-800mm G lens through its paces over the past week and it's so good! The primary people asking about it are bird photographers, so I thought I'd post a bunch of what I've been testing it out on! Most of these were taken on the A1II. #wildlifephotography

Some noise reduction and some zooming, but that's how I use something like this in the wild. _______________________________ #birdphotography #Birdsinflight #sonyalpha #sony400800 #wildlifephotography

I’m always happy when I make it to Saturday. Even though my job sometimes means I’m working, it still feels somehow special. Today is a non-working one though.

I spent a very cold night out on the Oregon Desert last month, and just couldn't go to sleep before making a few images of one of my favorite places with the Milkyway reflecting off ice. #desert #oregon #oregondesert #milkyway #sonyalpha #sonyA1II #20mm18G

Good morning nature fans! This is the final week of heron gm's before I move on to another animal for March. What will it be? Eagles? Bears? Dolphins? Whales? Songbirds? Maybe african animals?🪶📷 #photography #wildlife #wildlifephotography #birdphotography #birds #heron

A cold January morning in Zion National Park. Minhaz and I ventured up the trail that leads to the narrows with all the crazies in waders in low 20°ish temperatures this morning and the light was so direct and beautiful. It doesn’t look that cold, but it was on another level. #landscapephotography

Seeing the latest Trump antic- trying to shut down the Downtown NYC tolls -supports what I've been predicting since the election. States will ignore Trump and Musk's nonsense and take over all social services to take care of citizens. Many states are in a better position to do it than others.

It's unfortunate because some of the places that benefit most from federal money depend on it largely because of a lack of local revenue. With the cuts at the federal level and even specifically the IRS, I wonder how long it will take before federal taxes become a fighting issue.

The whole "Taxation without representation" thing is bound to come up. In this case, it won't be because we don't have representatives , but because the representative arm is powerless.

Dear National and State Parks: To all that you represent. Your history, your gifts to humanity and to your future. To all those that protect you and nurture you. I am here for you and I stand with you… - borrowed from @fromanalucia.bsky.social #NationalParks #StateParks #photography #protection

I think this is right. I’ve settled on “I’m sorry you were lied to.” Believe me I understand the impulse to tell these people that they’re getting what they voted for, I just don’t think it’s constructive. There are some in my family that I’m a little more stern with though. 😏

Want to go visit the national parks this year? Sorry. The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired. www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...

Hi friends! Been gone for a week or so as I had a bunch of work travel, and a client job that kept my brain occupied for days. I've found I'm like that with social media. I only really show up here as a brief escape during normal days, but I don't make time for it when I'm busy. What about you?

Hell yeah. Hold the line. This is what we need people to do. Slow things down, don’t comply in advance so the courts have time to stop them. It’s starting to work.

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

On the last morning of my January trip I woke up in one of my favorite places in the world. There was a sheen of ice about an inch or so thick and I spent some great time exploring. -watched the thermometer very closely with all that frozen water around. 😉 #desert #easternoregon #Kodakgold200 #film

New work from my recent trip to Death Valley. Titled -Not Naming Names I don't know that I'll ever get tired of these kinds of scenes. Also, I did- in fact- carry my 400 2.8 up to the top of the tallest dune. 😜 #dunes #desertabstract #desert #deathvalley #sonyalpha

Too many people didn't appreciate just how wonderful, how glorious, it was that the daily news cycle during Biden's presidency was boring as fuck.

It took awhile. Too long actually. I deleted my Twitter acct. I resisted because of the (mostly positive) history going all the way back to 2008, but it's time to be done with it. I'm sad that what was once a great place to connect with like-minded people is now so completely bankrupt.

This was day 2 of an epic road trip with my friend Min and we spent the morning in the Mesquite Dunes in Death Valley. I posted up at the top of the tallest dune and the view was magnificent. I made these images with the #fujigs645s and #kodakportra400 film. #desert #filmphotography

Here are a few photos from a unique morning in Eastern Oregon last week. I've been here so many times, but I've never seen anything like this! The folded patterns are where the ice on top gets pushed by wind, and glides over the melted water underneath. #desert #oregondesert #ice #desertwinter

I have mixed emotions on the Meta suite of apps as well, but I still find authentic community there and I use insta and fb for work purposes so I think you’ll see me there for awhile. We’ll see if Zuck can keep things out of the shitter.

It’s taken me awhile to one to this conclusion. I’ve hung on to my account because of friends that are still there, but it’s become clear to me that it’s not the community I used to find useful. For the last year or more My only reason for logging in has been a Group chat or two

It's kinda weird looking through new photos from the dunes & noticing myself thinking of previous favorites that made it into my portfolio. I find these sorts of images are perhaps the most like true digital negatives #deathvalley #dunes #abstract #california #desert #landscapephotography #fineart
