X is owned by Musk. TikTok is blocking the Musk movie account. Meta blocked the No Kings account. This is why Democracy Docket is not built on SubStack or any third-party platform that could one day turn against it. It costs more to operate but is worth it. Subscribe now. demdock.com/4w6emld

Meta took down the No Kings instagram; TikTok banned the Musk documentary account for supposedly violating its political posting policies. A reminder that platforms are owned by the wealthiest of people, control the means of media distribution, & put their thumbs on the democracy scale as they wish

Q: Will you disavow the Muslim Brotherhood? El-Sayed: Yes. Why are you asking the question? Do you assume that I wouldn’t? Q: Yes, because I have not heard you disavow them yet. El-Sayed: Have you disavowed them? I have not heard you disavow them yet.

Meta took down the No Kings organizing page today - the biggest day of protest this fall. They provided zero explanation. It stayed down for the entire afternoon until most of the protests were done. Outrageous. Put this on the January investigation list.

AI executives talk about agents “escaping sandboxes,” “going rogue,” and carrying out elaborate hacking operations, as if the company had nothing to do with it, notes Danielle Keats Citron (@uvalaw.bsky.social). But anything an Open AI agent does, OpenAI does. bit.ly/4ytRwo5

Forcing transparency onto the executive branch is one of the most potent tools that the federal courts have to counter executive overreach. But I am not optimistic that this Court will recognize what is at stake here: subversion of judicial power to exec power

If you care about the functional separation of powers, this seemingly small case about discovery is a case to watch

And when cts subvert judicial power to executive power, there are knock on effects outside of court too. The Executive Branch will use this case in information disputes with Congress to press back further on Article I.

The Court just granted cert in US DOGE Service, which asks whether (1) The COA departed from the separation-of-powers principles in Cheney v. District Court; and (2)Whether a ct can order discovery against an Executive Office advisory body to decide whether FOIA's disclosure requirement's apply.

Guess who was one of the biggest spreaders of that bogus claim about Talarico supposedly disappearing to Ohio? As @annamerlan.bsky.social reports, "The biggest election disinformation risk in the next few weeks is Elon Musk." www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Pompeo supported a man who tried to overturn an election and destroy American democracy. This shows what the real threat it. It's not Trump and his authoritarianism; it's the acceptance of it.

As I discussed last night with Rachel Maddow, after I published my book, "HOW RUSSIA WON," which exposes Russian disinfo ops aimed at the US to help Trump, the Russians dragged me into a disinfo op attacking Dems in the midterms. See my OUR LAND newsletter: link.motherjones.com/public/47685...

Just helping with editing here. These bots aren’t sentient. They’re doing what they’re programmed to do. OpenAI, a private company supposedly bound by laws, committed federal crimes.

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was killed by ICE agents after working in the U.S. for 35 years. His sons, Ronaldo and Lorenzo Jr., testified before Congress and reminded us that this rogue agency MUST be held accountable for its horrific actions.

The horror has come to our city: ICE has shot a person in Austin this morning. As the facts emerge, I am demanding a full, independent investigation, immediate release of the body camera footage, and accountability for any ICE officer who broke the law.
