I always ask myself why are we fighting for a better world if we can't actually stop to enjoy things or share in the joy of others? I know it can be a trauma response, but we need to unlearn it. There's no virtue in being miserable or expecting the worst. At very least stop bringing down strangers.

This is the kind of thing that would make me go Full Addams Family.

So in my cute little neighborhood full of old widows and couples who’ve lived here 60 years, as they pass, their kids sell their homes to rich assholes who proceed to level the house, cut down all the trees and build a McMansion encompassing the entire lot. I don’t care for it.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

If something important is being said, it will be in a news story. Link that news story and STOP POSTING SCREENSHOTS OF SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS FROM IDIOTS AND IMMORAL ASSHOLES!

Because they say outrageous things and then get retweeted, even here, so people can get internet points. Stop giving internet points to things that annoy you and for the love of god let’s stop RTing fucking idiots.

Happy Ace Week! 🖤🩶🤍💜 Asexual, often called “ace” for short, refers to a complete or partial lack of sexual attraction or lack of interest in sexual activity with others. Asexuality exists on a spectrum, and asexual people may experience no, little, or conditional sexual attraction. #AceWeek

It’s a subject that makes a lot of people uncomfortable and calling them corrupt and evil is easier. But the truth is that Republicans have a rape problem—one that they celebrate.

penbucket.bsky.social@penbucket.bsky.social

Extraordinary. I can't believe your story may be the first time the Republican's acceptance of the rape and abuse of woman and children has been spoken of in such clear terms... considering how goddamn long it's been going on.

I love that Morrison quote. What I FUCKING HATE is all the internet fuck-wits who took Morrison's 100% accurate and logical statement and reinterpreted it to mean "Fiction is made up and therefore does not need to have internal rules or logic."

‘Wicker’ stars Alexander Skarsgård as a man made entirely of wicker, complete with a rock-hard wicker dick. But what about splinters? Bacteria? Degradation? Would it be advisable, from a sexual-health perspective, to mount a basket dick? We asked a gynecologist: vulture.visitlink.me/DNQwX5

With all these idiotic tech bros living rent free in y'all's heads, my Muted Words list is starting to look like someone dropped a box of refrigerator poetry. The lamest STAR WARS names have nothing on these fucking twats.

Dear Company, If you’re going to have phone as the only way people can contact you, you then need to answer the phone when people call it.

I'm sure it's unfair, but whenever I see a show from 20 or 30 years ago getting rebooted with the same lead, I just assume that person is a horrible human that no one else wants to work with so they have to fall back on their previous successful role.

I feel obliged to once again reiterate that lay offs and closures are not a reaction to the economy, but a failure of leadership. Each wave of closures and layoffs should be looked upon as a consequence of greed and incompetence. If you can't keep your people employed, you are bad at your job.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with disliking something. I have a functioning limbic system, I dislike A LOT OF SHIT. But hunting down the people who made the thing to tell them is as psychologically unhinged as the people who stumble through life claiming they love everything.

STUDIO 60 was a self-indulgent useless train wreck of a show. But, if nothing else, it gave physical form to that particular brand of liberal buzz-kill scold that’s become all too common on this here internet.

Local voters beware: apparently voting machines in Tennessee are changing people's answers. Review your final screen VERY CAREFULLY before hitting submit.

I feel like a lot of the "Why we no can be like France?" posts can be answered by a decade of "DON'T GIVE THEM AN EXCUSE TO DECLARE MARTIAL LAW THAT'S WHAT THEY WAAAAAAAAAAANT!!!" posts.

Thank you to @sepinwall.bsky.social for actually writing this and talking to me for it, and to @garyjackson.bsky.social for the most concise summation of Sorkin’s ethos I’ve ever seen: “I want to be rude to a blonde woman.”

whatsalanwatching.comAnatomy of a disaster: Aaron Sorkin's 'Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip'Why do comedy writers still love talking about the infamous bomb?
Tim Carvell@timcarvell.bsky.social

Consider this an alert to outlets that cover entertainment: The 20th anniversary of “Studio 60” is coming up in September and every comedy writer on earth will talk to you about their continued horrified fascination with it.
