so, if we impeach, convict, & remove Trump, jd vance will (temporarily, until we can impeach him) be the first president since 1913 with facial hair. Will that a) start a trend of presidents with facial hair, or b) be the last president with facial all hair for another 100+ years ?

Dear Dems and libs: Stop helping Republicans muddy differences between the parties on AI and data centers by acquiescing to the "bipartisan opposition" frame. Rs are laughing at you while polls show Rs now leading Ds on these issues. Instead, tie Rs directly to Trump's AI/data center malevolence.

Greg Sargent@gregsargent.bsky.social

Trump is a world-historical villain who's putting us all in extreme danger, so put him at the center of this story. Dems can highlight how Trump is actively using DOJ and EPA to help AI data centers steamroll communities, and vow that a Dem majority will stop it. 2/ newrepublic.com/article/2154...

As snake bitten, rushed, and as much of a humanitarian disaster the withdrawal from Afghanistan was, something that stuck with me is that Gen. Donahue was the last soldier to get on the plane, physically ensuring "no man left behind." I served under him in the 82nd. Ride or Die. True Leader.

Laura Jedeed@laurajedeed.bsky.social

Obviously Hegseth hates anyone who has actually earned military accolades, but one suspects Gen. Donahue's cardinal sin was helping Ukraine effectively fight Russia even after Trump cut off military aid The result: one of America's foremost experts in drone warfare got the boot

There are plenty of reasons to be opposed to a.i., especially the way it is being implemented & pushed; spirituality is not one of those reasons

SHOUT-OUT to Political Cartoonist extraordinaire & Member of the Order of Canada Michael de Adder, who routinely does a far better job of holding this administration accountable than the corporate media. Thank you for your attention to his brilliant satirical wit! 🙏 (also: 🤣)

The top 1% made $4.5 TRILLION last year. They contributed just $103B to Social Security and Medicare. An effective payroll tax rate of 2.3%. Working class families contributed 9%. Because the payroll tax is arbitrarily capped at $184,500. Scrap the damn cap.

could everyone please stop using the word “BREAKING” in their post? Unless you plan on deleting that post, it will still sit there saying BREAKING weeks, months, years from now and you will look stupid. I don’t want you to look stupid.

new? is this sarcasm? when i went to college, i could vote where i actually lived—in the college town this was decades ago

Tom Nichols@radiofreetom.bsky.social

Well, that's a new one. "College kids should be able to vote to overcome the wishes of the people who actually live in the place where they go to school"

I’m sorry, you simply can’t lead your newscast with that Miller tape on the birthright citizenship “order” without pointing out that that’s not the damn way it works. It’s just not journalism.

if the moderate wing of the Dem party would spend even half of the energy they are spending fighting the DSA on fighting Trump they wouldn't be losing so many primaries to the DSA

Enjoy your dinner tonight, members of the White House Correspondents Association, you miserable embarrassments to the profession.

Q: Do you think it's appropriate to subpoena family members of journalists to find out information? TRUMP: I don't know. Barack Hussein Obama did it all the time. He went after journalists and nobody said anything about it.

It’s “Xitter”; The X is pronounced as in “Xi Jinping”.

Mike Masnick@masnick.com

X (it's not Twitter any more and hasn't been in years) is the red state diner of the internet: the place lazy journalists go to get a sense of what they think "real" americans believe based on a ridiculously reductive and wrong definition of what it is to be a real american.

This is great! How have I not seen these before. These should be spread far and wide

I’d add it’s not just now that he’s hugely unpopular: A lot of this administration’s priorities since day one imply a concerted effort to ensure that a second coup attempt would succeed. Just telling people to vote and hope the magic of democratic institutions fixes everything is suicidally naive.

Brian Beutler@brianbeutler.bsky.social

When you lay it all out, it's VERY clear what Trump has in mind. And it demands immediate planning and action to stymie his extralegal plans. Things like removing GOP judges and justices, denying appropriations, regular impeachment demands... Hoping normal means will suffice is deranged.
