50% of work is absolutely flying at the moment I tell you. Great team. Sure the other 50% ranges from tough to (minority) very tough but still, the balance is best it’s been in a long while.

Also I successfully fermented some cabbage with chilli like a poor facsimile of kimchi and it isn’t poisonous so I created a mozzarella and aforementioned fermented chilli cabbage toastie on rye sourdough and it was good alright. Sorry no photos you can imagine it though

Ieyasu-kun promotes Aichi Prefecture's historical spots. He wears golden armour, but he likes peace. He is slow and steady but occasionally gets excited when something good happens.

Do you ever think to yourself “how on earth did I become conversant in this subject to the extent you would ask *me* for advice on it?”? (Note I am not talking about bread, cake, sandwiches, houseplants, or creating a shrine to The Incredible Hulk I know how I became conversant in those subjects)

Losing my mind while doing some research for my creature design lecture that the closest relative to the maned wolf is the bush dog. Like there has gotta be a fable where the maned wolf took all the leggie from its cousin

My view is $60 rye bread is not going to be 20x better than a loaf I could make myself, way more than double the cost of ingredients, and sell for £3. And also loss-leader bread full of sugar and no nutritional value is an equally bad proposition. Uh, everyone deserves good bread is that ok?

Martin Auer, an acclaimed baker in his native Austria, is opening his first business in New York. It’s called Rye. It makes only one type of bread — an ancient Austrian sourdough — and the price is $60 per loaf.

I appreciate it’s an ancient recipe so maybe IDK it imparts some ancient wisdom from beyond the grave or similar. And also I am not an acclaimed baker people need to get paid. But the markup for a staple like this how can you justify?

This is definitely what happened because this weekend a fox came into my house in dead of night and ate my kid’s school shoes

Pretty sure a fox came into my house in dead of night and stole one of my Birkenstock sandals for a tasty* treat Why oh why could this fox not have stolen both sandals as uncertainty about whether the other sandal is actually still in the house somewhere prevents me from buying a new pair *YMMV

Being a carpenter for 30 years has made me superb at sharpening things. All Airbnb knife drawers are an abomination, so I take a diamond stone on holiday. To the people after us who experience that thing where it's as though a tomato is weirdly made of nothing: you're welcome.

Anish Kapoor at Hayward Gallery was excellent. Dim sum in Chinatown was excellent. Spider Man on the #1 screen Odeon Leicester Square was excellent. Great London(UK) day out treating ourselves

This is Fenrir. He has not yet been successful in cuddling with the cat. But thinks if he goes slow enough she might not notice. 13/10 (IG: fenrirfanclub)

Of course, System of a Down in the main event tonight. I just popped out to Aldi and it was nice to see multigenerational metal fans walking up Tottenham High Road

Oh wow I can hear Queens of the Stone Age sound checking at Tottenham Stadium (London, UK)

Something I enjoy is singing anything with six syllables to the rhythm / tune of the “heavy metal thunder!” bit in ‘Born to be Wild’ by Steppenwolf. Give it a go it might brighten your day. A slow thread 🧵

Reposting this because I seem to be particularly irresistible at the moment
