This analysis is mostly what you'd expect, but basically adds up to, "the military and intelligence community advised against this stupid thing, but were ignored by the key decision-makers, noted idiots Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth." Again, the real fault lies with the voters.

An excellent after action review of the US war on Iran. And what an utter failure all the key US players knew it would be. Good thing Trump doesn’t read and cannot stay awake to care about any of this. And now we have a military devoid of fire power. www.amerikanets.com/p/they-saw-i...

The US is hosting the World Cup and just turned away Africa’s top referee at the airport 3 days before kickoff because of where he was born. Omar Artan had a valid visa. He had a historic assignment. They didn’t care. Disgraceful. #USDemocracy #Pinks newrepublic.com/post/211508/...

In my 56 years of life, I’ve learned that whenever people start confidently talking about anything “changing the rules for investing”, run.

Watching a series of former Confederate states rush to eliminate any vestige of black representation in the House pretty much answers the question whether the Voting Rights Act was still necessary.

Trump: I'm going to destroy an entire civilization. We're going to keep killing people in boats. Senator Kelly should be executed. ICE protesters are domestic terrorists. Immigrants are vermin. Raskin: Donald Trump is bad for this country. Bash: Do you regret your heated rhetoric, Rep. Raskin?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

BASH: You and your fellow Democrats have used some heated rhetoric against the president. Do you think twice about that when something like that happens? RASKIN: What rhetoric do you have in mind? BASH: That he's terrible for this country and so on and so forth

Yeah I think pretty clear that there is a BIG chunk of MAGAs who are mostly in it for the racism

ElectionCord@electioncord.com

Poll Average Update: Trump is utterly cratering on inflation, and even the economy, and healthcare have taken a hit from their previous lows. There are likely a subset of people who only support Trump for immigration, perhaps some foreign policy, or just uhhhh Trump himself?

"Oh yeah, two MEUs and a Ranger battalion are plenty, you don't understand how much war has changed since WW2" say people who are completely ignoring how we've neglected to do any ground build-up in the region, in sharp contrast to the two Iraq wars.

Republican Senator John Kennedy just blamed Trump for the shutdown: “The Democrats offered a deal. We said accept it. Trump said no.” That deal would have ensured TSA agents got paid this week.

When liberals say "Republicans were always like this" they think it's a harsh indictment, but it's actually letting them off the hook too easy. The reason anti-Trump conservatives like me generate so much hatred from today's GOP is that our very existence is proof that there was always a choice.

the media is now telling people to work from home to save on gasoline, immediately after their years-long crusade to tell us why returning to office is best for everyone. this isn't a gotcha, it's an example of how contradicting demands allow the ruling class to blame us no matter what we do

We’re quickly learning that our checks, balances, and separation of powers were always dependent good faith, and therefore incapable of preventing destruction wrought by the very sort of shameless, arrogant, mad president they were designed to contain.

I think there are a lot of white male Americans who don’t mind skyrocketing gas prices as long as Trump keeps making them feel that they’re better than women and people of color. The MAGA movement has never been rational. It’s always been emotional.

JFC! The right already stripped abortion rights from millions of women. Contraception is next. Project 2025 made the agenda clear. This was never about saving babies. It’s about control, pushing women back into submission and forcing more births. 1/2

This post is really taking off. I know the Thanksgiving detail is grabbing, but I would encourage everyone to also read the full article about this family’s struggle at Dilley. They’ve been locked up for 130+ days. I spent hours with them on Zoom this week, and their story deserves to be heard.

It should be easy for educated, rational citizens to hold these two thoughts in mind: drug traffickers are the bad guys but due process of law protects us all. Being against blowing up alleged drug traffickers at sea on the president's word does NOT make one a supporter of drug traffickers.
