Intro post. I'm a single dad, I live on a pension and I'm struggling. I don't care how worthy your cause is, I won't be giving $ to anything, so don't ask. I need to feed my kid. Any account following me with no posts or no info will be blocked. Anyone posting AI "art" will be blocked. Fuck AI.

A Doctor Who Last Supper. This is my tribute to season 13 of classic DW in particular, and the Hinchcliffe era (seasons 12 to 14) generally.

A reminder, because it is almost that time of year: More children are killed by cars on Halloween than any other day of the year, by far. www.vox.com/future-perfe... If you're a parent, I hope you'll do what you can to keep kids safe. If you're driving on Saturday, PLEASE exercise extra caution.

I've been seeing some interior samples from artists looking for comic work. A few reminders of things to include: -clear shots of characters' faces at various distances -interior and exterior backgrounds -loose and tight clothing -fast and slow action -vehicles Optional: animals, kids, a kiss

We, internationally, need to do exactly what the Brazilians did and lead by example with: 1) Block all far right figures/accounts 2) Never share a far right account even to dunk on them 3) Never reply to a far right account even to dunk on them Completely cut their algorithmic advantage

I promise I am not trying to be hyperbolic and this is my genuine reaction having just got out: That is the best film of 2026, the single most technically beautiful and artistically inspiring film I've ever seen, and one of the best fantasy stories in any medium. My god, what an achievement

Important message for anyone who doesn't want to spend all their time online being annoyed. That's not a life. No one wants that.

Michael Hobbes@michaelhobbes.bsky.social

"You can't block someone just for being annoying!" Those are actually the most important people to block

So I'm not gonna quote that stupid bullshit thing from RFK, but have you noticed that white supremacists insist that white culture is superior because they're individualists and Asians are collectivists and then they pull this shit? White supremacy is a form of collectivism. It's just a shitty one.

What is it that attracts Australians to this?? One Nation has been selling racist stickers attacking Indigenous Senator Lidia Thorpe, including depicting her as disheveled on all fours, yelling “you stole my land”. theklaxon.com.au/racist-one-n...

Regular reminder that when you go to things while sick, you are giving those germs to people with autoimmune disorders, you’re passing them to someone’s newborn, to someone’s elderly parents. It’s “just a cold” to you but it can and does severely impact countless people.

I am b e g g i n g people to mask up at major cons, *especially* ones with 5-digit crowd sizes!! Lightbox this weekend was absolutely ravaged; I’m hearing of SO many attendees and exhibitors who got sick from doing the show this year!! Please stay safe out there! 🙏 🙏

Yeah, nah. Fuck that shit. Make it opt IN. They know if they do that they'll get no takers.

Geoff Field@geofffield.bsky.social

“The Albanese government’s proposed reforms would give US big tech unrestricted access to Australian and international content. This would allow AI companies to get access to everything Australians and their global fellow creators create online under an “opt out” model”

Today I've discovered air fryers make very good toasted sandwiches. Mostly because after I'd prepped the sandwiches my toastie maker didn't work. 5 mins at 200C, then carefully flip it over because bread on underside not toasted, 4 more minutes at 200C makes a great toasted sandwich.

Hey, Albo, this guy's got a suggestion for you... #AusPol

i don't think anyone should run explicitly on banning online gambling but i do think that a democratic-led government should just quietly take steps to undermine the industry and create an inhospitable regulatory environment

@albomp.bsky.social learned how to deceive the electorate from Scott Morrison, then bettered the lesson. What is the point of Labor? #auspol @australianlabor.bsky.social

Simon Rosenberg@simonrosenberg.bsky.social

The ombudsman agreed that the government failed to learn the lessons of #robodebt. But it's the opposite. For #agedcare, #NDIS, #jobseeker payments & employment services, the Albanese govt has learned precisely how to apply cruel, arbitrary & dehumanizing policies to the most vulnerable. #auspol

It's weird seeing AI bubbles across the world begin to collapse in real-time because AI continually needs more input to function, every time it's used its trained and becomes shittier, but nobody's writing their own code now, so it's a death spiral for everyone who needs claude to work

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

Dave reposted

The resistance around the world keeps growing. Brazil and Serbia are thousands of miles apart, but people in both countries are standing up to authoritarianism. They’ve shown us what can happen when people refuse to give up.

Bolsonaro's loss is not just a loss for Bolsonaro. It's a loss for Trump. For Musk. For Milei. For Netanyahu. For Farage. For Meta and Zuckerberg. For the meat barons, the fossil fuel corporations, and the rest of the neocolonial looters. And it is a massive win for humanity and the living planet.

oh wow so great to see politicians patting themselves on the back after yapping in parliament and signing a civility promise… how about you make a promise to do your fucking jobs and ensure people have the material conditions they need to live a dignified life you soulless fucking ghouls

The man who leads the party in Government, who could enact policies designed to help those struggling, who could raise the rate, thinks this is a good PR move. FMD this is tone deaf.

The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal is bringing a little bit of joy to Australian families doing it tough. And that’s something our whole Parliament can support.

Not sure it's possible to share this too many times. And it's only my second.

I know this to be true. Perceptions are often a matter of visibility. Drivers never see other driver's offenses because everyone of them is looking in their laps

Brent Toderian@brenttoderian.bsky.social

“Cyclists are often perceived as recklessly flaunting road laws. A new study challenges this perception. The study found only 5% of cyclists broke road rules while riding on bike infrastructure versus 66% of motorists who broke rules while driving.” Safe bike infrastructure fuels rule-following.

2 magpies on the washing line just now, watching me do dishes through kitchen window. 1 was above the washing I'd just hung out. "Get off the line - you'll shit on my clothes!" I said to the offending magpie. It flew off to perch in the branch of a tree nearby. Other magpie stayed put. Weird.
