I've been deploying a new major piece of software/infra recently; something that's being iterated on the fly in the field with live users. One thing that continuously shocks me is how people refuse to report issues and just work around them. If you don't report something it 'aint gonna fix itself.

The psychology behind ignoring and moving on is kind of wild to me. People rather just try to fix it the way they can instead of approaching an open channel ie direct contact with my team. The path of least resistance is report and fix, yet they take the hard headed approach. Always blows my mind.

I love the work the #NACO (National Angel Capital Corporation) is doing to lobby changes to capital gains reform in Canada. We can smash the false perception that building in Canada isn't lucrative and unlock insane pent up potential amongst our domestic talent. Let's unleash our capabilities!

Is it possible that Mark Carney might be the most powerful person in the world (albeit briefly)? Power isnโ€™t just military. Itโ€™s leverage. Itโ€™s trade. Itโ€™s relationships.

It's sad watching what's happening between Canada and the US. This is a vital moment between both countries but one side is seeking to diminish the other. This is not what allies do. Glad to see Canada standing up to a bully. It was the right move. It will come at a cost, but we have no choice. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

This represents many years of hard work by Ryan and our maintainers. Very proud to get this out the door. Give 2.0 a spin while itโ€™s in RC and report any bugs on Discord! Letโ€™s get this shipped officially ๐Ÿ’ช

Ugh, I just watched a Musk interview and what he's saying about a zero-cost society is kind of spot on. After feasting off Drexler and similar futurist authors for decades I do believe technology will bring us there. I fear Musk and other billionaires tainting those ideas by just talking about it.

I'm late on my quarterly ERP rant, so here it is... For the love of god someone please disrupt the *whole* ERP industry. It's ripe for change. Don't make me spend the next few years of my life tackling this problem, it doesn't look fun :p

Heading back to Toronto from spending a weekend in #Halifax (Nova Scotia) at a tournament. Makes you realise how amazing other parts of Canada are. The food, the people, the weather. Thanks for a beautiful weekend. Iโ€™ll be back soon! Iโ€™ve neglected the Maritimes.

I donโ€™t think Iโ€™ve ever been more disappointed with Americans. Itโ€™s turning into a much deeper harder feeling to shake. Weโ€™re suffering from wildfires and theyโ€™re turning to politics. When the US was down on its luck with California fires and 9/11 we helped. We are down and theyโ€™re kicking us.

This moments will not ever be forgotten. They will motivate future conversations and push us in a direction I donโ€™t think any Canadian would have thought was normal just years ago. Itโ€™s truly sad.

So Canadian tax payers have to eat billions of the cost and risk but give 50% to the US justโ€ฆbecause? Then they call us โ€œalliesโ€ while basically extorting the situation. What amazing allies we have.

Released! You can access the new primitives under the @next dist-tag. Expect bugs as this is a very early release. You can also access the documentation at primitives2.solidjs.community

We've landed migrations for Kobalte 2.0. It wasn't very hard with the right tools. Good timing with Solid2 Beta 15 out today as well. Solid Primitives 2.0 will publish this week and Kobalte will go through a full review.

Spent most of my career fixing human code slop so I don't mind fixing AI code slop. At least it's generally consistently sloppy ๐Ÿ˜†

Does anyone have a contact at a museum or gallery in Toronto or Ottawa? I'm interested in chatting with someone who understands the industry niche very well.

A well written and very interactive explainer of signals and modern reactivity!

I personally disagree with Roger Griffin. Illiberal democracy isn't a potent enough word. Neo-fascism is far more accurate and captures what we're experiencing. I could probably defend that as well.

About once a year I rant about the state of ERP platforms. I'm due for one so here it is. The ERP industry has to be the most deficient niche I've seen in the software industry. Every project seems to be death by a thousand cuts due to legacy/deficient software and horribly archaic process.

Everything is aligned to the disadvantage of the entity licensing the software. It's practically anti-user experience at every level. What I hear often is "this is how it has been and probably will continue to be". There's a complete lack of interest in easing the burden for adoption.

Lastly, time is literally money when it's about utilizing their time (if you saw the billables your eyes would bleed). When it comes to your time though, it's abundant and so they can be so irreverent. Someone please disrupt this space. If not...I'll do it myself. :p
