I was born left-handed in a culture that saw that as a problem that needed to be corrected. My parents didn't force me to, but I know of several peers and those older than me who were forced to become right-handed. The fact that no one cares about it now is a good thing!

I understand AI can do magic and can even make humans extinct. Then can it solve a more basic problem? why does the audio system on flights sound so terrible? I can't hear a thing the pilot is trying to say.

In primaries this year, Democratic turnout utterly dwarfed Republican turnout. But does it mean anything for November? It turns out the answer is very much yes. A new analysis from @donnermaps.bsky.social suggests that Dems are on track for a 13-point blowout in the House vote. Here's why.

Everyone remembers the 2010 wipeout that Ds received. Equally important was the 2014 midterm when Ds lost Gov races in ultra-blue states like IL, MA, & MD. I suspect the same thing may happen to Rs this time. Losing the TX GOV race would be a political earthquake: www.politico.com/news/2026/08...

The kids vaccines had a longer wait even after approval. When adult vaccines were available, you could get one at CVS or one of the big grocery stores. The kids ones were to be only had at pediatric clinics and because these are small businesses, they didn't get the priority that CVS, etc. has.

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

Also the Republicans were screaming that Fauci helped authorize vaccines for children, which is something every goddamn parent I know was praying for every day for more than a year and have been thankful for ever since. These people are all self-centered idiotic sociopaths, nothing more.

I hope to see Democrats as angry at Elon Musk for sending up to 14 million people to their deaths as Republicans are at Anthony Fauci for giving Donald Trump advice during a pandemic.

This is murder. ICE routinely deposits released detainees far from their home just to be cruel. It’s standard practice. To do this to a blind man on a wet cold winter day in Buffalo is to know you are potentially sending him to his death.

FactPost@factpostnews.bsky.social

MS NOW: There is growing outrage today over the death of a blind father who was dropped off by Border Patrol agents miles away from home and in the cold. Nurul Amin Shah Alam was a Burmese refugee. He had been reported missing by his family and then found dead after a five-day search.

Yes, this!

Marisa Kabas@marisakabas.bsky.social

It’s why they have such a hard-on for CECOT. They get to visit and soak up the cruelty and then hop on a plane back home and don’t have to think about it anymore. When CECOT’s in Nashville, it’s something that needs to be dealt with constantly. None of these assholes want that responsibility.

ICE knows their targets - the "illegals" - are kind to random strangers experiencing trouble and would step out to offer help. Despite being short on documentation, they are full of morals and civic sense - true citizens!

Another good example of why we need a mandatory retirement age of 70 for politicians. No exceptions, exemptions, or extensions.

Doesn't bode well for Susan Collins if ICE operations in Maine even vaguely resemble their atrocities in Minnesota.

LOL. Despite this being a Harris+71 seat, Democrat Meg Luger-Nikolai won tonight by a *91-point* margin. Easily one of the wildest overperformances we’ve ever seen, given the district’s deep, deep blue lean.

I know this is a big undertaking, but is it possible for @boltsmag.org to send out a skeet/email 2 days before deadline closes and there's no challenger to anti-democratic incumbents, so someone from the readers could put their name just so there is a candidate. You are already doing great work!

I want to talk about a dystopian world we are entering - where every moment, event, and crisis just become commodities. Life stops being something we live, but something we sell and trade. It will breed both corruption & emptiness. 1/ A 🧵on why our politics can't ignore this.

This is Trump's masterstroke. Use it for any topic - the media runs a story they want, the campaign spins it the way they want. No one is sure what he meant. The campaign survives another day and moves on to the next target.

Andrew Lawrence@ndrew.bsky.social

if you are worried about the abolish word you simply do what trump would do when asked and say "well, we're going to take a look very seriously at a few things but theyre out of control and my opponent wants them to kick in your door but we're not going to do that....we're looking very seriously"

We have one and that is the extreme right that now controls the Republican Party (morally right from their perspective). They steamrolled and co-opted the Club for Growth types into their fold.

G Elliott Morris@gelliottmorris.com

it would be good if we had a political party in america that was at least as concerned with what is morally right as it is with what will make its donors and advisors happy
