I am beyond enraged. My father died at 66 from pancreatic cancer. He never got to meet his daughter-in-law let alone his granddaughter. In the time since he died in 2008, pancreatic cancer has risen to be the 3rd leading cause of cancer-related deaths, up from 4th. These people are evil.

My dad is gone nearly 19 years. Feel same.

Every update about the pancreatic cancer vaccine, I have to hold back the rush of tears thinking about my stepdad. He’s been gone 20 years and six months, and the idea that other families may not have to know the pain of watching someone die of this evil disease is almost too much to hope for.

This is Romney’s former campaign manager. Speaking as an ex-Republican staffer one thing I tell people is that no one will go to the mat against our former party more than people like us. First, we’re bitter and angry for having been apart of what turned out to be a colossal, fascist lie.

The USMNT and Knicks being really good except for the precise moment when Trump involves himself is really funny

100% noticed that carefully crafted language too. Don't forget, Clarence Thomas was spotted in the US Capitol yesterday too. Wouldn't be surprised about a two-fer ...

HT to Prof. Lisa Tucker (Drexel Law, also my wife) for focusing the specific language that no one has *announced* Alito's retirement. The NPR retraction isn't actually saying he isn't retiring, only that no one has announced it yet.

PETERS: If a state refuses to turn their absentee voter list to the federal govt, will Postal Service still mail their ballots under this proposed rule? STEINER: No PETERS: So it basically coerces states to hand over their absentee voter rolls or face consequences of not being able to vote by mail

“He owns 11 homes” cannot be repeated enough

James Talarico@jamestalarico.bsky.social

Since taking office, Ken Paxton has become a multi-millionaire while our pay has stagnated. He owns 11 homes while most Texans can’t afford one. He trades favors with rich donors while blocking overtime pay for workers. Paxton doesn’t serve us — he serves himself.

One thing lost in the IRS convo is that there will be a new president at some point who has every right in the world to revisit the conditions of the signed agreement. I suspect that arguments about upholding the good faith of govt contracts will be hard to hear through all the laughter.

This 80 second clip of Justice Robert Jackson’s opening statement will send shivers down your spine. Commit it to memory like the Gettysberg address. It’s even more important than Lincoln’s speech because we forgot his words the first time. We can’t promise “never again” if we don’t remember.

We don't ordinarily publish posts at [checks watch] 8:51 PM on a Friday night, but state constitutional law expert Quinn @yeargain.bsky.social has an outside-the-box idea for reversing the VA Supreme Court that is very much worth taking seriously: Dems can simply lower the retirement age.

I feel this so deeply in my soul as a 51 yo with a 4 yo who refuses to eat on principle unless it's rice, pasta or some sugary sht. f'ing 4s is right.

I’m 50 with a five year old. I have lived at least three lives before lunch today and every part of my body hurts.

This is incredible news. Some really smart scientists, thank you. And to think RFK, HHS & maga wants to end mRNA research. Pancreatic cancer, which killed my dad, is the 3rd leading cause of cancer deaths. It was 4th when he died in 2008, so it’s getting worse. www.nbcnews.com/health/cance...

Springsteen: Well, this past winter federal troops brought death and terror to the streets of Minneapolis. They picked the wrong city. Your strength and your commitment told us that this is still America. And this reactionary nightmare and these invasions of American cities will not stand.

A great post about fertilizer prices — and the 2nd/3rd/4th order effects:

realcdndude.bsky.social@realcdndude.bsky.social

The consequences will hit the entire food system. A massive drop in corn acreage spikes feed prices, forcing ranchers to cull herds early. Expect a brief meat surplus now, followed by severe shortages and massive price spikes at the grocery store later this year.

Should surprise no one, this assault on 1st Amendment & TV broadcasters came from Mar-a-Lago after Trump chat. Btw, Trump's complaints are largely about cable news, which aren't regulated like TV stations' public interest licenses. Oh what about radio which is ~95-5 conservative w/no equal time?
