Parents, if you have dropped off a kid named Jimmy in the morning and picked up a kid named Janet at the end of the school day, please return to the school: You've driven off with some other family's child.
Trump: "They want to cut your children. It's unbelievable what they do. Your son leaves as Jimmy and comes home in three days as Janet, and they don't even ask you. They can take your child out of school and do whatever the hell they want. Minnesota is one of those states."

Spot on from @acoyne.bsky.social on CBC. First-past-the-post means a separatist party can win a majority with 30% and plunge us into a unity threatening separation referendum. Proportional representation means such decisions require broad majority consensus, not the whims of one party.
"“All the concerns we’ve had about the erosion of our environmental laws and the loss of habitat protection for threatened and endangered wildlife, it’s happening. It’s here.”" @maloneyj.bsky.social @juliedabrusin.bsky.social
Bill C-39 doubles down on habitat offsets, in which companies can "build" new habitat elsewhere to compensate for what they destroy in building a mine, a port, a pipeline or other project. The practice is highly contested by scientists. “This is our worst fear,” said biologist Misty MacDuffee.
Eyes on Bill S-205, Tona's Law, which addresses the use of "isolation" in prisons. The Bill is at second reading in the House of Commons. www.parl.ca/DocumentView...

What we should grasp is that this is what Trump is *for*. It's why fossil fuel companies and the ultra-rich backed him. The kleptocracy, the cruelty, the culture wars, all these, while real & grim enough, distract us from seeing the true purpose of his presidency. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

"Liberals made the decision, but it was regular people who compelled them to do so." Don't let your Liberal MP tell you otherwise. ✊
🛩️ v 🏖️ People who aren’t used to winning, won. At the same time, people who often win lost for once. The losers are throwing tantrums. Winners should take the win to heart because it truly belongs to them & no one else. My column on this remarkable grassroots mobilization in @thestar.com

These images of First Nations community members evacuating Collins, Ontario on motorboats are absolutely surreal www.facebook.com/reel/1548244...
These photos of FNs community members fleeing their homes by boat are genuinely apocalyptic (Photo via Wayne Wastaken of Collins, Ontario, who says his “hometown is gone”) www.facebook.com/share/r/1ArN...
Ditto Carney and his Canadian Liberal government.
There's no avoiding the conclusion, however much dust the UK government throws into the air. By providing weapons, rhetorical and diplomatic support to the Israeli government as it has committed genocide in #Gaza, Keir Starmer and his ministers *are* complicit in this great crime.

Chinese researchers have found that bumblebees shake their heads at foods they dislike and "lick their lips" at ones they enjoy. Scientists say these emotion-like behaviours could reshape how we view insect consciousness.

In this podcast I'm trying out some new thinking. I've come to believe that there are three entirely distinct and, in many cases, contradictory philosophies within modern environmentalism. It's a work in progress and I would very much value your feedback. Thanks. 🧵 bsky.app/profile/wepl...

No Toronto Liberal MP should take being reelected for granted. They continue to play this city. Their own TPA is making plans (900m runway), asking for non disclosure agreements and not revealing anything while MPs keep saying they know nothing, they’ll stand up for TO. Just constant emptiness.
