I’m happy to see the new American Cancer Society report showing that the U.S. has reached a historic milestone in cancer survivorship, where 70% of patients live for 5+ years after diagnosis. But I also see it as a requiem, because the systems that made it happen have been destroyed.

It was never about deporting violent criminals. If that were true, where are the examples? Trump would be shouting the victims’ names from the rooftops. What we’re actually seeing are heartbreaking videos of families torn apart by masked men who look more like white supremacists than ICE agents.

ICE is a much greater threat to this country than illegal immigrants. The current administration ia by far the greatest threat this country faces. The problem is not st our borders. It is in the White House.

When President Johnson activated the Nat'l Guard in Alabama in 1965 over Gov. Wallace's objection he did it to protect protesters advocating for voting rights for Black people who had previously met violence at the hands of state troopers. Very different situation.
