no matter how often i warned my agents about github action limits they kept blowing through them. they are now banned from using any actions.

bluesky has always offered protocol services for devs— the relay, jetstream, and the bluesky api are the main ones. but until today those haven't really had a proper home. the crew as been working hard, and there's (even) more here than meets the eye, let's break this down!!

There’s some conversation in the Atmosphere right now about how we turn @atproto.com projects into sustainable businesses. One of the biggest opportunities is sitting right in front of us: give publishers back the audience development business they spent the last 20 years outsourcing to platforms.

I now have multiple loops running at any given time. I was SUCH a skeptic of AI delivering 10x engineer impact. I'm no longer even a little bit skeptical of that. Actually that's probably underestimating by quite a bit. brittany-ellich.offprint.app/a/3mrjj34puv...

but i work in identity/payments/databases, i cant just hand it off to a loop! well, you can make the loop as rigorous as the work demands: TDD, adversarial and security reviews, multiple models - all before you review it yourself.

more regulation is a gift to big companies who have more resources. small/independent developers are the ones that onerous regulations impact most.

Ed Oswald@edoswald.bsky.social

I'll totally own up to that last point on my own site. I just gave up after the tariffs kicked in, because i have had almost no EU traffic since. Sorry Eurozone, i don't have the time to fight with this, plus the fact most of the tracking I use DOESN'T employ cookies anyway.

Great to see Bluesky adding per-account repost controls. SheerVue users currently have a similar option: open another user’s profile menu and choose “Hide reposts from this user.” Reposts from that account disappear from your Following and list feeds.

Bluesky@bsky.app

v1.130 is live! Want to follow someone for their posts but not their reposts? Now you can — turn on "Hide reposts in feeds" for any account you follow.

SheerVue also automatically reduces duplicate reposts in Following and list feeds. When multiple accounts repost the same post, later reposts are hidden as you scroll. Less repetition, calmer feeds.

i wrote some articles last year that i thought nobody would read because they're super long. and now i see claude regurgitating what i wrote in those articles in a perfectly condensed way (and occasionally explicitly referring to the posts). they took away *exactly* what i wanted the reader to take!

You don’t need a different AppView — just a different app.

dan@danabra.mov

i also don’t like that it works this way, fwiw. but yeah that’s how it works here. it’s an appview choice so maybe some alternative ones don’t do this? i haven’t checked.

Testing a potentially unpopular opinion that I'm not sure the dev industry is ready for: Unless you're shipping something like nuclear safety code, you probably don't need a human reviewer for your PRs.

In my audits, reading the Performance profile is where people get stuck: the flame chart and waterfall look like noise at first I built an interactive guide to make them click, every figure is interactive, plus LCP, CLS, INP and the Insights panel perf.reviews/profile-guide #WebPerf #DevTools

It's a pretty fair to say Linus has likely reviewed more lines of code than any other human being in the history of computing. He's also an ass about quality. If he's not seeing a problem with the AI contributions then... yeah. The game has changed.

i want to spread the word about atproto. if you’re running a podcast, i’d be happy to hop in to talk about it. i understand it decently well and can explain it without much jargon. it’s one of the most interesting developments in the last 30 years of web, and i can defend that. please dm to set up!

The hiring landscape for senior leaders in tech is interesting these days. I’ve heard that there is little interest in people management skills anymore as companies either want you as a “senior IC” or to help with AI transformation not org leadership Career development is no longer a thing.
