Hello! You probably found this page through some of my more polished work. This is where I post much less polished thoughts and WIPs, as well as stuff completely removed from my main focus of trains, transit and engineering such as politics, my cat Muffin, baseball, and whatever else is on my mind

Thinking about how Amtrak's numbering system clearly had a structure at one point but has now fallen apart. Let's fix that. 1-99: LD trains 100-899: most state supported, based on geography (image) 900-999: seasonal/special 1000-1999: NE Regional, Keystones, Valley Flyer 2000-whatever: Acela

When I was 12 I just learned what midterms are. I thought Congress was elected every 4 years like the president

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Michael Fusella supported President Trump for nearly a decade. But as the Iran war drags on and the cost of living continues to climb, the 21-year-old Republican said he feels betrayed by a president who said he’d end overseas conflicts and lower prices.

People were asking me when the Northstar shut down if we'd get any of the infrastructure money back from BNSF and my response was, in essence "lol, lmao"

Update on this: NS has now eliminated direct Memphis-Northeast intermodal service. Traffic is once again moving via Atlanta, as it did before the railroad and a coalition of state governments spent hundreds of millions to upgrade the line/associated terminals

This is like one of those "neural net learns how to walk" simulations. This snake out here playing IRL QWOP

The elevators at LPM are out for the second year in a row after heating switchover, the glycol system (coolant) ruptured. Last year it flooded elevator shafts with 1200 gallons, same issue this year after recommended maintenance was delayed.

Toronto came up tonight from one of the real estate ghouls on the Uptown panel. Arguing that Toronto is removing their bike lanes, therefore bike lanes don't work. Stop building them.

Some of you will have seen the new Citroen 2CV already. I’m at the launch and I think it looks great. Smaller, lighter, electric and really not expensive

I've seen dealer markups on these that put them above the Equinox EV and I think that's critically under discussed

ryan cooper@ryanlcooper.com

turns out GM was right, Americans piss and moan that there aren’t any cheap EVs but they will not buy them if you make one www.motortrend.com/news/2027-ch...
