Is there a reason there are so many Dan Sullivans in Alaska? @andrewvandam.bsky.social found: "It just so happens the name Daniel peaked in popularity about 40 years ago, giving Alaska the most Dan-friendly population profile of any state."

David Reyna voted for Trump. He didn't expect it to hurt his business. “We didn’t think this administration was going to crack down on undocumented workers that hard,” Reyna said. "It is completely devastating the local construction industry. It’s grinding it down to a halt.”
Last winter, when Shorty and I were just starting a walk, I spotted another dog's turd and scooped it up. Shorty was immediately like "okay great, let's go home now!" And that's when I realized he thought the purpose of our daily walks was just to get a nice bag of poop. Didn't matter whose.
One thing I find endlessly funny about the rise of AI is that it has revealed that there is a large number of people who believe that the reason they wrote essays at school or university is their teachers were desperately waiting for them to provide a definite answer to “Lear: what’s up with him?”

Thank you @noamscheiber.bsky.social for such a thoughtfully reported @nytimes.com piece about our Class Gap research. Key point: the class gap is NOT an academia specific phenomenon. The cultural & social capital that come from class background matter in many elite settings.
"If you’re a white working-class guy in an elite profession, you’re also facing pretty serious barriers.” Some very persuasive evidence that the "class ceiling" is a huge problem for white-collar workers. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/18/b...
