Reminder: this is LITERALLY not how it works. A Speaker is only elected AFTER everyone is seated. Johnson won't be Speaker when seating happens. There literally will not be a Speaker.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

RAJU: So if Trump says 'Don't seat Democrats,' you'll resist him? MIKE JOHNSON: I'll do my job as Speaker. The president has vowed of course that he wants to follow the law as well.

If only the Peltola campaign had been credibly accused of rape, then the NYT could safely ignore it. Good job finding the *real* scandal -- Democrats committing politics.

OBAMA INSULTED THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY — a totally fake and made-up story that means nothing — is their closing argument, given blanket coverage in conservative media and polite attention in the mainstream media. Meanwhile, revelation yesterday that the President committed a violent rape is ignored.

of course trump should be impeached and anyone arguing otherwise shouldn't be taken seriously. impeachment is a constitutional bulwark against abuse of power and there are few leaders in the history of the modern world who have abused their power more than trump. dont be dumb. we must impeach.

i swear its the dumbest thing ive been watching now for 11 years since trump came on the scene. "why do republicans follow trump?" because they fucking like it. they like being racist misogynistic fuckwits. they revel in it. they love this fascist shit and always have.

You make a good point. I continue to see pundits ponder "why" Republican Congress lick Trump's boots, but rarely say "because they like what he's doing".

Some important context here: Flavio's feeling the law is connected to the election only to the extent that he needed to win to keep immunity. The actual crimes of corruption are extensive, go way back, and are not election-related.

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

This is literally the end of the rule of law. If a President can pardon people committing crimes on his behalf - and the Supreme Court says he himself can't be prosecuted for crimes committed as part of his job - then the government becomes a lawless entity able to violate our rights without limit.

UPDATE: The DOJ’s demand to set aside ballots in California is impossible to carry out and has no basis in federal law, L.A. County told a federal court last night. Voting is already underway, the county said, and once a ballot leaves its envelope, it can’t be traced back to a voter.

Arabic names (including Somali and Egyptian names) are usually patrilineal patronymics. Your "middle name" is typically your father's first name. Your "last name" could be your grandfather's first name or your family name, or both, and you might use both interchangeably. None of this is nefarious.
