I really want to see this made for the US

“Guys, they want us to go home.” 🔥 🇫🇷 French short film about what would happen to society if all the immigrants listened to angry old racist white men and left (aka the Republican agenda)

Helluva story, and from CBS of all people

HELL Kennedy@helenkennedy.com

Remarkable story: "As the Justice Department continues to see employees departing in droves and struggles to recruit new personnel, the pattern of hiring people with a history of criminal convictions, court sanctions or other professional discipline has become increasingly common."

President Trump just gave a speech about voter fraud. Someone has been committing voter fraud — and his name is Ken Paxton. He was just caught voting from the wrong address 6 elections in a row. If the President wants to investigate voter fraud, he should start with Ken Paxton.

I love this from my candidate for mayor - who is really earning my support. Keep going Zohran 👏

My statement on Donald Trump's threat to deport me and his praise for Eric Adams, who the President "helped out" of legal accountability.

A group of Quakers are marching more than 300 miles to demonstrate against the Trump administration's crackdown on immigrants. Organizers of the march say their protest seeks to show solidarity with migrants and other groups that are being targeted by the administration.

Whatever impostor syndrome you may have once had, dispose of it fucking immediately. If these people run the country, you deserve that promotion, you can run for city council, you can start that business. If this is the baseline, shit, you can do surgery drunk in an alley and you will do less harm.

The entire administration is going to be staffed by Fox News hosts

personally would like to see every store show what part of the price increase is due to tariffs bc if these tariffs ever come down, i need to see that price go right back down

🙄 If that were true he’d already be on a flight back. The idea we have to engage in “diplomacy” over a thing we are literally paying them to do is ludicrous and insulting.

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

The Trump administration said in documents filed in federal court that it has engaged in “appropriate diplomatic discussions” with El Salvador concerning Kilmar Abrego García, the Maryland resident who was illegally deported to the Central American country last month.

"Yet" doing some very heavy lifting here

Joshua J. Friedman@joshuajfriedman.com

Whew, this conclusion from the Fourth Circuit: "We yet cling to the hope that it is not naïve to believe our good brethren in the Executive Branch perceive the rule of law as vital to the American ethos."

So relieved that this is resonating with others who may be less terminally online than I am

Lincoln Square@lincolnsquare.media

Constituents to Chuck Grassley: "Are you bringing back that guy from El Salvador?" Senior Citizen: “If I get an order to pay a ticket to pay $1200 and I just say ‘no’, does that stand up? Because he just got an order from the Supreme Court and he just said ‘screw it’” “I’M PISSED!”

I'm ready for impeachment hearings over this case

Harry Litman@harrylitman.bsky.social

The DOJ lawyer who made the mistake of answering the court's questions about Abrego-Garcia candidly (eg yes he was mistakenly deported, a fact the Administration already has acknowledged), which got him put on administrative leave, has now been fired, ending his 15-year DOJ career..

I am hoarding vanilla extract 😝 Because apparently we have an unacceptable trade deficit with Madagascar

My theory is that self identifying as “moderate” in the context of the current environment means “would be a Republican except for not wanting to be labeled a bigot.”

HandsOff ... our Social Security, our healthcare, our immigrant neighbors, our universities, our voting rights, our courts, our public schools, our international allies, our government workers ... and our right to protest policies we don't like!

NYC tomorrow

"Disloyal to President Trump" because he was appointed by a Trump appointee. Taking national security advice from Laura Loomer -- idiocracy

donna reposted

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive. No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief. 1/ A 🧵 to explain his plan and how we fight back.

Replying to @sethabramson.bsky.social

Wake me up when America is ready to acknowledge that Donald Trump has never hired a single person on the basis of their competence or intelligence or experience or training but rather whether they'd give him two scoops of ice cream at dessert if they were his White House butler

The Trump administration has now filed six emergency applications at #SCOTUS challenging rulings by six different federal district judges spread across five different federal district courts. Maybe it's not the judges who are "rogue"?

THIS is how you do it, everybodt

WKMS@wkmsfm.bsky.social

Gov. Andy Beshear vetoed a GOP-backed bill Thursday to dismantle diversity, equity and inclusion efforts at public Kentucky universities, declaring that diversity should be embraced as a strength while branding the legislation as being “about hate.”

So stop calling deportation. It's imprisonment & indefinite penal servitude without trial, or any sentencing at all

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick@reichlinmelnick.bsky.social

Totally agree with this. Flying a person to a third country that they may never have been to, directly into a prison where they are going to be forced to do hard labor, is not a deportation; it's something else entirely.

So keep it up #TeslaTakedown

Patrick S. Tomlinson@stealthygeek.bsky.social

If Tesla's stock drops far enough, the bank loans Elon took out to buy Twitter lose their collateral and get called back immediately. Which is why Elon is panicking, Trump is panicking, and their shadow backers are all panicking.

This is ultimately what they're after - privatizing schools, hospitals, prisons, roads, even the US treasury

Sen. Adam Schiff@schiff.senate.gov

If Donald Trump & Elon Musk have it their way, your Social Security will be privatized and your benefits will be entirely reliant on the stock market. If you want a sense of what that'll be like – take a look at your 401k today.

Trump on NATO: "If the United States was in trouble and we called them. We said, 'We got a problem, France.' Do you think they're gonna come and protect us? Hmm. They're supposed to. I'm not so sure." (Literally the only time NATO Article 5 was invoked was after 9/11 on behalf of the US.)

This is why "conservatives" want to undermine public schools -- to get rich off of public funds

ProPublica@propublica.org

NEW: On paper, Salvador Cavazos earns less than $300,000 to run Valere Public Schools, a small Texas charter network. But taxpayers likely aren’t aware that in reality, his total pay makes him one of the country’s highest-earning superintendents.

It is dire that many people running the government do not know the basics of the law, or pretend not to. It is not a crime to remind people of their rights—which unlawful immigrants are also entitled to under the Constitution. The truth matters, no matter how politically inconvenient.

I've never started a petition before, but ... you can text SIGN PIQYFL to 50409 to ask your reps to boycott the SOTU address, in light of Trump's blatant contempt for Congress and the Constitution
