I didn’t campaign, volunteer, and donate for @abigailspanberger.com just to have to approve a casino Fairfax County and Virginia voters have repeatedly rejected. Shame on every Virginia Democrat who ignored the will of the voters to make this happen for their big donors.

Wow

Carney: "American hegemony in particular helped provide public goods, a stable financial system... this bargain no longer works. Let me be direct. We are in the midst of a rupture, not a transition... recently, great powers have begun using economic integration as a weapon. Tariffs as leverage ... "

Why do we support a party who sells us out and lets the bad thing happen anyway? It’s “vote MAGA” and bad things happen or “vote dem and they let MAGA do the bad things”

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"

Trump is 30 points underwater. Dems swept the special elections. People know the GOP is responsible for the shutdown. So the Dem Senators pulled out their big guns... and shot themselves in the foot.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST DICK

Durbin is a YES on this deal: “At Democrats’ urging, today’s bill is not the same one we’ve voted down 14 times. Republicans finally woke up and realized their Groundhog Day needed to end. This bill is not perfect, but it takes important steps to reduce their shutdown’s hurt.”

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

They were in fact, not down.

Trump: "If you look at affordability, which they campaigned on, they lied. Because they talked about 'Oh, prices are up' -- no, prices are down under the Trump administration and they're down substantially."

Mamdani: "We believe in standing up for those we love. Whether you are an immigrant, a member of the trans community, one of the many Black women that Donald Trump has fired from a federal job ... your struggle is ours too."

He felt the impact through his vest???

Dave Jamieson@jamieson.bsky.social

Border Patrol agent Lairmore testifies that he was not injured by the sandwich, but he felt the impact through his ballistic vest. The sandwich came apart and "kind of exploded" on his chest upon impact, he says. "I could smell the onions and mustard."

So am I reading this court decision correctly? We now have 50 micronations with their own laws interpreting the U.S. Constitution wholly separate from one another? But there's one guy with private law enforcement who is immune from all punishment who can do whatever he wants in those 50 states?

Some advice to the doom and gloom crowd who wanna speedrun straight to armed rebellion/dystopic hoarding - if I can’t trust you to show up to city council meetings and give public comment, what the fuck makes you think I’m going to trust you with a weapon at my back?

a brief, abridged list of what Trumps administration has set in motion already in just a few months. Its a truly dystopian scored earth agenda : - Withdrawing from Paris climate accord - Eliminating the Office of Atmospheric Protection - Eliminate nearly all climate research at NOAA

I don’t buy into conspiracies that Trump is a Russian asset. But at the same time, I don’t know what he’d be doing differently if he was.

The people who’ve felt the historic weight of oppression see the danger. Does it make more sense now why Trump doesn’t want you learning our history? Listen to us—because no one walks away safe from a collapsing democracy.

Am I the only one tracking west coast ports? Do people realize the next month of import shipping is going to be worse than peak covid?

one of the tasks of the American left is to explain to retail and service workers that this is the future that America has planned for them
