one of the tasks of the American left is to explain to retail and service workers that this is the future that America has planned for them

Awful and inhumane. You would need to spend half the days for 5 years of your 10 years sentence working to get a 5 years reduction, and I bet they don't get paid so you get out broke with a skill in an industry competing with the slave labour you participated in.

What a ridiculous notion to ask ppl what price they’d pay to get five years of their lives back when they didn’t even commit a crime in the first place!! This kid is a sicko who obviously believes in the slavery of innocent people.

This kid can only expose the prison slave labor to media and public by giving it a positive spin. The US sent people there simply for protesting against the TRUMP Administration. He would be in prison himself if he make derogatory statements against BUKELE.

Thirteenth Amendment Section 1 Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, 𝙀𝙓𝘾𝙀𝙋𝙏 𝘼𝙎 𝘼 𝙋𝙐𝙉𝙄𝙎𝙃𝙈𝙀𝙉𝙏 𝙁𝙊𝙍 𝘾𝙍𝙄𝙈𝙀 𝙒𝙃𝙀𝙍𝙀𝙊𝙁 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙋𝘼𝙍𝙏𝙔 𝙎𝙃𝘼𝙇𝙇 𝙃𝘼𝙑𝙀 𝘽𝙀𝙀𝙉 𝘿𝙐𝙇𝙔 𝘾𝙊𝙉𝙑𝙄𝘾𝙏𝙀𝘿, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. Section 2 Congress shall have power to enforce this ... etc

i know this isn’t the point, but isn’t the math wrong? he’s saying if you work there for one day, you get two days off your sentence. that would be cutting your sentence by a third ?

If he’s counting the work day as one of the 2 days, then I guess it makes sense. (i.e. staying in your cell for one day is “one day off of your sentence” working all day is “two days off of your sentence”) Either way it’s slavery, but I think that’s the logic this chump is going with.

I'm thinking this kid should give real 1st hand treatment from personal experience. And he should make hourly videos w/o tears coming down his face. We need that same positive energy from the "survival skills" he's learning.

This moron graduated high school in 2020, why is anyone listening to this racist moron? Cancel this chud. "Shirley has been involved in a controversial incident where he paid migrant workers to parade in front of the White House, holding pro-Trump signs.

Whose the little Klanbaby making that propaganda video? The perverse incentive to find people to imprison to create "workforce" was already realized and written into Project 2025. It LITERALLY contains plans for concentrat6ion/work camps for the homeless, mentally ill and those suffering addiction.

Thanks. I did. I made it thru about 30 secs. I need an exorcist. He's a nightmare. I need a Blessing Way. I can't untwist my face. Do they all have brain worms? I might actually need Jesus. I'm going into a vegetative regression for a while. BRB

The fact that the dude filming seems to think this is all a good hurts my brain a lot Like he's presenting like he's uncovering a positive thing that really counters the narrative that these prisons are awful, not realizing he's presenting something nightmarishly dystopian. How?

That is what prisoners did in concentration kamps. They worked hard for no money. They were cheap labor for large corporations, until they died. Which didn't matter, because there were plenty of jews to take their places. And die.

At first when I watched this on mute I thought he was some whistleblower warning us about our descent into fascism, damn that was such an emotional whiplash when I realised he was trying to promote it instead

This brat needs a smack. He’s infected with the assumption that their original sentences were legitimate in the first place. The idea that shaving time off sentences via labor being a good thing falls apart once you ask if they should even be there in the first place.

His name is Nick Shirley and he loves to post videos for monetization He lives in Utah and his mommy drives him to protests. He just had a birthday and loves receiving postcards

Barring the fact that he’s an idiot & thinks slavery is novel, am I doing math wrong, or is he? “Every day you work, you get two days taken off your sentence.” So if I worked 3 years, I’d get 6 years off my sentence? But the 3 years pass while I work. So it’s 9 years total time. Right? RIGHT? 🫣😵‍💫🤯

It's a complicated (for reasons) way of saying you can reduce your sentence by one third. If you were sentenced to 9 years, you get out in 3; id 6 years, you get out in 2, etc. The problem is they don't let you work EVERY day and may not count some of the days you do.

It's what my mom would call "Sharecropper math." I work 49 hours. You pay me for 38 of them because 11 of those hours I was eating or drinking water or standing still or stopped to go to the bathroom or something random that you are pretending to be able to precisely quantify.

Almost every American jurisdiction has had good time/work time credits for longer than I’ve been a criminal lawyer, which is 40 years. This is not any news at all. Always astonished at how stupid Republicans are.

People in the comments are saying it should be a model for the world because guys are leaving with certificates like there aren’t guys in the US who’ve passed bar while in prison.

But now packaged and sold as a "desirable win-win" way to rehabilitate prisoners rather than the mass incarceration into forced slavery that it always has been. I think it's the smart marketing with the bright yellow shirts! 🌞

Terrible human. Can’t imagine his parents are model citizens either. Blows my mind that this twerp is my sons’ age, and we’re supposed to follow his opinion. Shows the sort of people who support the regime.

The prisoner are wearing Taller Textil t-shirts, a large textile corporation, I’m assuming they’re contracting these prisoners’ labor from the El Salvadoran government. How much are they paying for these contract laborers and how much are the laborers being paid?

1) IF you work 7 days a week with no holidays or downtime. If you only work 5 days you lose 15% of the commutation, which puts you to about 5 years. 2) Algebra is not 5th grade math. There are freshmen who still get this wrong.

Right, but lots of countries have labor laws that require a 5 day workweek that still apply to prisons. So even if they work 7 days, the prison will only give them credit for 5. Maybe less, accounting for random deductions and adjustments applied capriciously and arbitrarily.

If all those prisoners are cutting so many years off their sentences, why has no one ever been released? Why can we not find someone who served in cecot and got out? This is the prison camp from Andor except instead of the Death Star they are making shitty sneakers

HEY guys what's up be sure to smash that like and subscribe button TODAY i'm here to give all my followers a sneak peek into the AMAZING slave labor they have going on in el salvador

Congratulations to them, for creating a system that incentivizes the government to put more people in jail, for longer sentences, and making it more likely that anyone accused will be jailed, to work the machines.

Maybe I'm slow, but he said that prisoners sentenced to 10 years can work in the factory every day to reduce their sentence to 5 years - right? What about the remaining 5 years? Where do they go to serve that? Can't they continue working and subtracting more time from their sentence? Seems sketchy.

This is pretty fucked up. An endless supply of slaves from the no-due-process stream of "prisoners." They can cut time off their bullshit "sentences" by working in a pop-up sweatshop for free. Trump's America, in our 51st state of El Salvador!

Pretty clear now exactly what "greatness" Trump has in mind to bring us back to again. Next thing you know Federal prisons will be commuting death sentences in exchange for picking cotton.

lacks humanity, lacks charisma *and* can't do maths pure failure (that's the kind of kid who is gonna spend his life failing upwards - everyone will despise him but he will end up as president, leaving a wake of destruction behind)

To give right-wing talking points, trying to promote those prisons as brilliant rehabilitation centres. It's pure, unadulterated propaganda akin to Nazi Germany's "Arbeit Macht Frei".
