"They made me build a freaking bridge for approval" - Apartment developer in Davis California

Dr. Samantha Hancox-Li@sjshancoxli.liberalcurrents.com

the idea that a city's social services should be paid for one-by-one by these insane discretionary deals on a development-by-development basis is just madness. it's such a tremendous drain on the general prosperity in return for ???

Transportation improvements in Sacramento take literally generations to complete. This new signalized section of a bike trail crossing took 10 years from the proposal started to being officially opened today.

There’s ICE enforcement taking place in my neighborhood today. At least every local politician is coming out very publicly against it and sharing whatever resources and information they can.

It should be noted that 82-year-old Matsui got her seat when her husband died in 2005 after holding the seat since 1979.

Spent 45 minutes looking for my two-year-old’s favorite stuffy. Gave up order replacement on Amazon only to find it behind the pantry door five minutes after we gave up

This informative chart was shared by staff at last week's Oakland bike/walk commission meeting. The next time someone tells you "protected bike lanes are too expensive", remind them it's probably not the bikeway driving up the project cost, but all of the other non-bike-specific project elements.

As a biologist, I'm strongly against Prop 38 here in California. It makes no sense for billions to go to one unnamed research institute. Vote no.

I just can’t get over how bad this AI campaign ad is

This has to be the most pathetic political ad I have ever seen. AI slop for Fremont City Council candidate all to complain about missing yard signs. If you cant get 5 people together for a photoshoot you shouldn’t be running for office.

Sacramento light rail train, not moving because it’s stuck in traffic because we decided to make light rail not grade separated. Cars >>> Transit

In Sacramento County, pedestrian fatalities spike from October to November. You are more than twice as likely to be killed as a pedestrian in November compared to April

Sacramento is, by these metrics, the best value and some of the highest quality of life anywhere in the west. California incomes and sunshine with Portland’s prices and Denver’s access to nature is I guess a ranking-friendly combo?

In honor of #BannedBooksWeek, I'm happy to report that many state DOTs have refused to add my book to their own libraries (and happier to report that many of the same state DOTs have held secret book clubs with my book)

Horrifying: Arizona Democratic congressional candidate Bernadette Greene-Placentia was raped by a man after he knocked her out. Another man approached her to do the same. “She began swinging her foot at him. ‘Not even worth it,’ she heard the man say as he moved away.”

Saying he'd be cool with Iran nuking my home city is pretty bad but not quite as bad as when Hillary said some trump supporters were deplorable so I can see why the media turned the latter into a major scandal and not the former
