The sword of Domi-cles is forged from Domi-scus steel. Pliable, yet resilient. She/her. Minneapolis-adjacent cryptid. This is my brain's junk drawer.

The fetishisation of "debate" as some sort of grand public good that everyone should do is so thoughtless and jarring to me because the more you actually do it the more it becomes apparent that genuinely constructive debate is actually a pretty niche thing.

Moralists don't really *have* beliefs. Sometimes they stumble on one, like on a child's toy left on the carpet. The toy must be put away immediately. And the child reprimanded.

Picturesque sky/clouds to complement the fall colors on the trees this morning… (phone camera no match for the reality.)

Why waste time trying to explain the concept of a rightward drift in the Overton Window when you could just show someone a chart of when my cats think they should get dinner vs. when they do get dinner over time

I really really really *want* to like tofu but I have yet to find an application I actually do like. It's entirely a texture thing-- from extra silky to extra firm my brain always wants a much different mouthfeel than what it actually is. It's been recommended that I try it at Big Bowl. Someday.

Also, if you're not testing the meniscus of your soup pots, are you even cooking soup? (DIDN'T SPILL MORE THAN A THIMBLE.)

Ah, soup season. Have you missed me as much as I've missed you? (Creamy tomato cheese tortelloni soup with onion, tomato, kale, and hot italian sausage topped with shredded Parmesan and served with garlic herb bread.)

Update: they were v good (the purple one could have used less lemon juice and more apple wine and simple syrup)

Made triple berry infused vodka, triple berry simple syrup, candy corn infused vodka, and candy corn simple syrup for a couple of cocktail/mocktail sets to be served at a bachelorette party I'm going to this weekend. Sofaking good

The Failure VIP was worth every penny and I am so glad I did it. Certified sweetie3.14s. One of em asked me if I was dressed for Halloween and I said "nah, this is pretty normal for me? I'll wear this in May." More makeup than usual and I've still got that blinding Pillsbury Dough Boy glow tho

Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing an essay, writing a eulogy, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing for 5,000 years.

"How is this not an Onion headline" is the wrong question. That's the old question, from the old world, from the time of the Old Republic. The question now is, "How is reality now contained entirely within the paradigm of the Onion?"

There's so much power in saying, "I'm sorry. That really sucks. They shouldn't have said/done that to you. You didn't deserve that."

It's rare to find people like this ER doctor who can speak truth to your pain. And when you do... it's beautiful, but it hurts so much. It hurts the part of you that has always known you deserved to be treated this way, even as others made you believe you didn't.

There is a moment at the very very end of Abdul El-Sayed's podcast with Ezra Klein (book recommendation section) where he talks about the idea of "speaking truth to pain" and this will be staying with me for an extremely long time. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/25/o...
