This is why it's so important to me not to blame people who got something out of these books! It's odious to use your professional credentials to spread misinformation. It's not odious to believe what a trusted expert tells you about their field.

I don't particularly like Graham Platner or Tom Steyer but I'll vote for them if it means preventing the right from gaining more power. This isn't hypocrisy, it's what centrists are constantly — and correctly! — telling leftists to do.

This need always made me profoundly sad because blue collar workers are every type of person. It’s not just white guys in overalls with an anchor tattoo on his shoulder speaking in “plain English”. I’ve worked with every type of guy on roofs or in the cable company.

If the Democrats let Republicans have this INSANELY easy W, I am going to be apoplectic. This shit polls like chlamydia. Get on the other side of it now and be loud about it.

DeSantis also says datacenters are unpopular on both the left and the right. If you have followed this guy's career, this is something worth taking note of. He would not be coming out early like this if he didn't see a big political problem coming down the road.

As a prominent leftist I am playing in the woke bowl. It’s like a roast barrel but you have to say the wokest thing. I plan to hit them hard with feminism

Over the last year the entire "free speech on campus" beat has been revealed as an utter fraud. Years of punditry puked out in ignorance and bad faith. Yet even as the fraud becomes undeniable we still get stories about wide-eyed idealists who just wanted 'ideological diversity' and 'open debate'.

By insisting that gravity exists, physicists are excluding those who think it doesn't exist — and reducing the number of ideas by half. I am a professional political commentator.

I know some people may have thought the purpose of scholarship was to create and refine better understandings of the world while winnowing and weeding out incorrect and obsolete ideas, but what if we just gave all the ideas equal time all the time instead of discarding the dumb and immoral ones?

It’s so sick how these conservative parent’s moron kids cannot accept that they are too stupid to understand college. Go to a Christian school where they automatically give you all A’s if you know the little hand thing where you say “this is the church, this is the steeple…”

i keep saying this but what i hate most about the ezra kleins of the world is their insistence is that politics is about messaging and triangulating. its never about offering a compelling vision of the world, its about trying desperately to capitulate to whatever moment we are in

What used to be “Russian trolls” is now “bots.” Those things really exist, and they’re pernicious, but we’re often way too quick to ascribe assholish behavior to them when really, it’s our fellow citizens, led by mercenary ghouls producing propaganda.

Michael Hobbes@michaelhobbes.bsky.social

I'm not sure "driven by bots" is the most accurate way to describe these results. The Cracker Barrel boycott was very openly launched and amplified by prominent conservative influencers like Chris Rufo. Bots may have latched onto it afterwards but it was organic far-right derangement.

I have no evidence for this so take it with a thousand grains of salt, but we know prominent online influencers are frequently radicalized by their own audience and if that audience is largely bot networks, we need to consider which is the cart and which is the horse.

It feels like this is becoming a more common mass shooter profile: Someone who's interested in politics but not as a vehicle to express clear values or a coherent viewpoint. He just wants to mock anyone who takes it seriously.

the american right has been getting away with this plausible deniability shit for so long that they don't even have to do it anymore to be mainstream. they can openly say vile shit and the "liberal media" will find some way to make it plausibly deniable.

People keep "debunking" the claim that Charlie Kirk wanted to stone gay people to death but I'm pretty sure he meant it.

usually if you ask experts why an empire fell they’ll say it’s nuanced and multifaceted, so i think it’s kind of cool that with America future historians will get to just say like “oh they took the idiot train to moronsville”

Something I wish I would have said in the episode is that men need this advice far more than women! The vast majority of dating advice for men is how to trick women showing signs of disinterest into sex when it should be about not letting rejection turn you into a whiny little baby.

JarekFA@jarekfa.bsky.social

Maybe someone should write a book about it to let men down gently. We can even call it, "She's just not that into you". podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i...
