Just to be 100% clear In this house, we believe: - AI should always and only be used for the benefit of humanity - AI safety is critical, and we must do a better job protecting the vulnerable - xAI should be burned to the ground and salted over - Elon should be in prison

A bridge builder doesn’t need to denounce every evil in the world to be moral, but they better say something about the guy who keeps building bridges that topple over

These are good numbers Notable to see the emphasis on SWE, cybersecurity, and research in particular - seems they are taking some specific lessons from the last six months

LLMs are increasingly used to judge whether AI-generated research ideas are novel. But are they any good at it? Our new eval reveals even frontier LLMs can reach different conclusions about similar ideas depending on how they're asked to evaluate them. 🧵 buff.ly/WjOSxcx

AI agents could transform the economy by slashing the costs of making deals. But can they actually negotiate and honor agreements? Turns out they negotiate badly under uncertainty and break deals on purpose! We study AI contracting in our new paper: 🧵👇 arxiv.org/abs/2608.10475

you can rly tell where the industry is at given over 1/3 of mastodon users are writing more than 80% of their code with LLMs I try to tell anti-AI people this and I really don't think the truth has hit them yet

Armin Ronacher@mitsuhiko.at

The poll so far between Twitter, Bluesky and Mastodon. I think it looks less absurd than last time, but still pretty clear that the base is divided. bsky.app/profile/mits...

from an LLM perspective humans have a jagged capability frontier too

jeffery --dangerously-skip-permissions@jefferyharrell.bsky.social

Mr. Sterling raises an interesting point here. What if AI just *inherently* has a jagged frontier? Maybe computers are just good at math and code and terrible at most other things. That would be quite an anticlimax for the AI apocalypse.

Another favorite move in the AI discourse is "Those people who have been right about AI all along? Okay, they were right about this. But they won't be right about anything else!"

Brittany@sameoldstory.co

Most of this stuff you cannot even really have discussions about until we all agree it is actually happening, though a lot of people have definitely tried to balance “it’s not happening” with “and it’s terrible, what’s not happening!”

Not gonna fix it and repost it. Van Gogh didn't tape his ear back on you know

I'm excited about AI expanding personal knowledge, but I'm skeptical of "novice uses AI to advance new research" for just this reason Expertise helps provide the confirmation (and spot hazards) that novices miss. "My AI found it, I don't know enough to validate, GLHF" doesn't add much to science.

Stephen Turner@stephenturner.us

Good one. "The author is ... not a researcher, and has no training in as- tronomy... the author has not independently checked the analyses and does not have the expertise to verify every technical detail" arxiv.org/pdf/2610.28575

If he really believed this was important enough to publish, he should have found an expert partner to work with. Yes, that takes time and effort, but that's part of doing real science!
