Hi. I’m Eric. Writer of the medium formerly known as television. My current project is an audio drama for Audible (non-IP, based on an original idea of mine), set to be released sometime in the very near future. My next project after that is…who knows! Will linear time even continue exist anymore!?!

If anyone’s curious about how the iPhone Duo is as a day-to-day phone from the non-tech-reviewer POV (I.e. me) ask me anything… (short answer, I’m definitely keeping it as my daily phone from here on out)

This is worded as if the billionaire owners are going to be picketing outside the game tonight AND NOW I REALLY WANT TO SEE THAT

As the Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers battle to become first-time World Series winners, MLB owners are poised to shut down the game over fairness concerns.

well, I had one of the teams right (back on Aug. 2nd)

Can’t wait to see how their narrative changes when the Dodgers lose to the Rays in the World Series this year…

Of note, one of this year's ballot measures is purportedly to fund necessary medical research, but a close examination reveals that it's basically a $4 billion taxpayer payout to a single sketchy nonprofit. That's why it's important to read the fine print.

Here's part 2 of my California voter guide. This one covers how I'm voting on all 14 propositions that are on the ballot this year: publiccomment.blog/p/the-public...

The best Easter egg on the MiB ride is the Steven Spielberg head on a stick. He rarely lowers his newspaper, so it’s really hard to spot. I always knew Spielberg was three aliens in a trench coat.

So what if it’s a “cash grab”? More studios should “grab” the “cash” that comes with re-releasing movies in theaters again! That’s a good thing!

Back in 2011, when tech bloggers were obsessed with "cord cutting" and demanding "a la carte channels" (we hadn't adopted the term "streamers" yet), I looked at the data, and came to a different conclusion: "Choice is definitely good, but we could wind up paying more for less. A lot less."

techguyeric.comIs à la carte cable really the answer? There’s a growing demand for “à la carte” cable pricing — i.e. the ability to pick and choose just the individual channels you want. After all, why pay for stuff you aren&#8…

Congrats everyone! not only are we now fully living in a sci-fi dystopia timeline... but we're not even in the prime universe anymore! We're the reboot attempt.

Mitch McConnell returned to the Senate on after a more than three-month absence. “Today, I’ll cast my first Senate vote since I took a bad fall back in June. I’m really looking forward to being back on the Senate floor and seeing my colleagues,” McConnell wrote in a statement. nbcnews.to/4h6US9V

Alan Ritchson seems like a good dude, and I think REACHER uses him as a human shield for some gross right wing vigilante porn that is, tonally, different from the books—where Reacher is deliberate about who he kills. Also, casting Nick Searcy, a MAGA-pilled asshole who was at January 6, is bad.

I guess you can say the land is finally living up to its name…

Our two investigations into Madison Square Garden are now unpaywalled and free for anyone to read.

WIRED@wired.com

Yesterday, WIRED learned that Madison Square Garden was suing us for our accurate reporting. We stand by our work. That’s why we’re removing the paywall from two of the MSG stories they don’t want you to read, making them free for everyone.

Okay. I’ve spent the last 48 hours studying up on daylight savings. The pros and cons of standard time. The pros and cons of savings time. And in light of all available data I think the best solution is… We split the difference and spend part of the year one way, part of the year the other?

I would’ve gone with the headline “Fossil fuels intense bidding war”

Imagine successfully killing an octogenarian uncle because of some inheritance scheme you got going on, only for that uncle’s senate office to cover up the fact that he’s dead for political purposes fml

Unrelated, but I don’t get the whole “lower 48” thing. They’re only lower than 1 state. Still higher than 1. They’re technically the “middle 48” states.

NBC News@nbcnews.com

Most of America’s Lower 48 states are about to swelter under an unusually large, strong and long-lasting heat dome that will spike temperatures in a way that the National Weather Service calls “significant and dangerous.”

Also, I call shenanigans on all these articles about the potus's self-reported income. If he's so rich, why does he keep hiring such shitass attorneys

Well this article certainly takes a swerve at the end and now I hate everyone involved?

“Researchers are unclear why it keeps calling everyone ‘Seymour’ as it asks to be fed.”

The world’s oldest soccer ball, found in a bedroom once used by Mary, Queen of Scots, will go on display for the first time in the U.S. — having made the long journey across the Atlantic from Scotland to Florida.

World Cup’s been going on for a week and I have yet to read any coverage with the headline “AN AMERICAN TALE: FIFA GOES WEST” and I’m very disappointed in everyone
