I've sent pings you people wouldn't believe. Message boards on fire when we glimpsed the shoulder of Jeri Ryan. I watched Baked Beans Twitter fighting in the dark over Bean Dad-Gate. All those threads will be lost in time… like tears in rain.

“I have usernames older than you.”. Holy shit

Is it just me or has there been a shift in the way the BBC allows Trump to be covered and discussed? Like it’s less “The Emperor today issued a new statement on his fine clothes” and more “get a load of this fuckin guy”?

In the neurodivergent community, this is our equivalent of 'Deckard is a replicant'

I still think it’s pretty likely that SBC is autistic.

It really knocks you on your ass when you realize the problem is that the fascists are largely made up of a bunch of grown men in arrested development who spend their adult lives playing pretend and making everyone miserable as they LARP through the world.

To my overachieving friends, who learned it in school and carried it with them ever since: you are not a leaky vessel of worth that must always be topped up. The universe does not count achievements, and you will not get a good grade at the end.

The guilt I feel taking one day off a week when my to-do list is so neverending is exactly why I need to enforce one day a week off but I’m very very bad at this. Like, the whole day I’ll feel guilty, like I’m letting my work & our audience & my colleagues down or something.

As a wise waitress once said, “In a hundred years, who’s gonna care?”. Some of this stuff is leftover ambient religion, and some of it is socialised capitalism. Don’t give either the satisfaction. Do and make what keeps you safe and fills your heart with meaning and joy.

Not quite this, but: if you want to signify it’s the 1960s, especially outside the capital, you don’t get a load of 1960s cars in. You get in cars from the 50s, the 40s, even the 30s, among a few from the 60s. People made do with old cars for longer, and the way cars looked was changing rapidly.

Period always means “some things from this point in time, but just as many things from the decades previous.” You have to do this if you want it to look real and lived in.

Film and TV makers: cast fat people. Cast them in roles other than the funny friend. Roles where their fatness is not part of the plot. Lead roles. Romantic roles. Cast fat people in your “beautiful people” club scene. Don’t write/cast small roles where a fat person is used as shorthand for [x] type

Fellow fat people/people who wear plus sizes: what would real solidarity from your thinner friends & family look like for you? (Once again, asking thin & midsize people to sit this one out & just listen. Take notes & take action!)

Many people - politicians, doctors, parents - see the neurodiversity movement & feel the threat it poses to their worldview. If some minds are different, if some of us are fucked by the school system as it stands - totally shamed & brutalised by its inadequacy - that requires radical change.

I have seen #Digger. I can’t work out why Tom Cruise is in it. Is it for some interesting metatextual reason like Michael Keaton in Birdman? Or did he just insinuate himself into it, shark-eyed, with promises of budget and ticket sales?

Right come on, what’s everyone’s favourite page in Bart Simpson’s Guide To Life?

The “every family member’s birthday/shoe size/favourite colour” vs “every family member’s name” part of the Marge/Homer brain diagram is embedded deep in my understanding of the world

There’s a charity in King’s Lynn who provide heavily subsidised proper talk therapy to people in the area. They are the One To One project and they are great. www.121help.org

121help.org121help.orgThe One to One Project was established with charitable status in 1984, to provide long term professional support to adults in West Norfolk and North Norfolk who are experiencing emotional, social and/or and mental health difficulties.

Years-long NHS waiting lists for basic CBT that does fuck all for many people. A media that proactively undermines reality for people who have ADHD, autism, and severe mental health issues. 'Just get a bit of exercise! Why not go for coffee with a friend?'

In 2018 I was working in private practice and was on maternity leave. I was invited to the office Christmas party. In the taxi, on the way home, the Managing Partner stuck his tongue in my mouth. I called my line manager (whose mobile number I had) and immediately reported it. (2)

That shouldn’t be my guilt to carry. My (male) line manager should carry that. He told me he couldn’t fight for me because the Managing Partner would pick on him and he just wanted to retire quietly. Men, do better. Call out shit behaviour. Support women. Believe women. (6)

Needs to be legalised, regulated, and treated as a medical issue when misused. Drugs policy in this country is insane.

It feels like Britain and ireland needs to start talking about the mass scale of cocaine usage that seems to be happening Just got off train to bunch of lads outside station playing techno and snorting lines. But seen similar in rural ireland And that’s before get to the ‘patriots’

I often remember David Mitchell saying he was opposed to the name Peep Show because it sounded seedy and misleading, but of course ultimately the name of a thing doesn’t matter much because it soon just becomes the name of the thing. There are too many over-thought and over-written names in fiction.

I think it's absolutely mad that today there's a *national news story* about 400 oil platform workers losing their jobs, and the government being blamed. 25% of the UK TV industry lost their jobs in the last 4 years and we never hear a peep about it! Some jobs are 'real jobs' I guess.

I think when you are Ed Sheeran, you are probably raised to see being a mega pop star as a respectable upper middle-class profession, like being an MP or a bishop. Sure it’s a bit WILD but ultimately you hope granny likes your songs. Fans are customers.

I say this not to excuse him, but just to get my head around such a different lookout on being an artist. I think he is happy to consider himself and the music as product that he gets up in the morning to make and shift.

The thing about that Ed Sheeran statement is you can hear all the drafting and the lawyering with the intent to arrive at something that sounds as close to being brave as possible without actually saying anything much at all.

"This is a perfect quick and easy recipe for when you don't feel like cooking..." [Procerds to show video clip of recipe that clearly involves at least an hour of what everybody would consider 'cooking']

The BBC News just announced the headline “Why was the UK’s #EuroVision entry this year so dismal? MPs want answers.” And, *what*? That’s some WILD editorialising.

Spare a thought for all the poor bastards who are now having to pretend to really like the music of Ed Sheeran and Boy George to own the woke left. Must be like when I bought an Owen Paul album because j found out he had been at Celtic, only to find it was absolute dug shite

There’s clips of a new Tom Cruise interview floating around and it is *fascinating* watching the way he says so many words and conveys not one single bit of meaning. He’s like a cactus or a porcupine. He cannot bear the thought of being even slightly known.
