This is incredible. Super useful guide for artists (especially comic artists) thinking about, and getting data on, how long it takes to make a graphic novel. This is something I'm coming up against now - gathering the data, but also really working at the limits of what is possible and healthy.

It’s pretty nuts. Tom Watson’s very first intervention in his new job at spytech firm Palantir is to write a letter to his former colleague @labourlewis.bsky.social detailing all the times the firm has monitored his anti-Palantir activities

I've been working on a new Jacques book that I'm aiming to have ready for @thoughtbubbleuk.bsky.social this year. I'll have more information on where and when this can be purchased online soon, but for the time being I just really wanted to share the cover.
This is fantastic! A must read for comic creators working in Scotland, but also comic appreciators, funders and educators in Scotland, and comic creators further afield.
Thank you again to everyone who attended our roundtable last week! Our full report is now available, with a complete breakdown of everything we discussed, all solutions proposed, and all resources suggested. Let's fix comics! 📝 smallpress.scot/reports/misc...
💯 (I need to remind myself this daily. It's a lot easier to hear at 4.30pm when you've still got panels to go!)
appearing over the shoulder of a comic artist who's about to fill a panel with an unnecessary background. put the pen down. sometimes clarity and punch of a panel is improved when there is no background. you're cluttering that panel and making it harder to read. where are the bubble tails gonna go.

Some of my favourite resources about comics making! smallpress.scot/articles/how... I kept answering Qs or doing talks where I rec'd resources or gave out PDF guides, & wanted to make them more publicly accessible. So now they're up at @smallpress.scot 👍 Here's the pic version

The Luddites were right by the way. They were violently suppressed by the military, working on behalf of the factory owners. Chartists and other activists took up the fight of Luddism to win us back worker rights. George, just have a read of this mate: tomhumberstone.com/luddites

The Luddites loved technology. They owned looms at home and would ‘mod’ them to count threads. Their battle was against worker exploitation. The degradation of their rights, safety and wages. They were against a handful of rich businessmen owning the means of production. Sound familiar?
