I was honored to meet Dolores last year. We all should aspire to continue her work - to fight for the rights and dignity of all people.

The United Farm Workers union mourns the passing and celebrates the life of UFW cofounder Dolores Huerta. The greatest possible tribute to her life is for her work of organizing to continue. 1/

This administration has no respect for decisions made by state supreme courts and has no trust in the people of our United States. This action shows they are unfit for office.

Shoreline remains ahead of the curve in providing more housing to more people.

A presentation today at the Puget Sound Regional Council shows that just a few cities across the region are producing housing at a race on pace with growth targets since 2019/2020. Seattle, Redmond, Kirkland, Shoreline, Port Orchard, Woodinville are exceeding targets, but 26 out of 40 aren't.

The “parents rights” initiative, I-001, is a MAGA-backed effort to roll back protections for LGBTQ+ kids at school. If they see a counselor, or ask a teacher to use different pronouns or a different name in class, schools can be required to out them to parents. More detail here:

nohateinwastate.orgAbout IL26-001 | What does I-001 do? — NO HATE in WA StateI-001 endangers all WA students by removing protections for child abuse victims, weakening parents' rights, and restricting student access to help with sexual assault, domestic violence, addiction and...

First you have to vote no on a measure that would repeal an income tax on the wealthy -- a double negative. The one on "parental rights" is completely impenetrable. I just voted "no" because the progs all told me to. I still couldn't tell you exactly what it means.

Walkable downtown grocery stores in the 20k-40k sq ft range are common in NJ, but almost invariably the 50k+ mega stores are out on highway strip malls. The reality is structured parking is expensive, and you need a remarkable dense neighborhood for a grocer to accept a low enough parking ratio.

What GOP in Congress & Trump have done over past two years: —Put huge tariffs on (largely more fuel efficient or electric) foreign cars —Reduced US efforts to increase automakers’ fuel efficiency —Fought states’ efforts to do the same —Funded virtually no transit projects —Killed subsidies for EVs

I don't think most Americans understand yet what a global laggard the USA is turning into here. Media instead told us that electric vehicles were a fad that didn't work.

John Bistline@bistline.bsky.social

Nepal passed 5% battery electric vehicle share in August 2021 and is at 75%. The U.S. passed 5% in October 2022 and is at 6%.

I am coming around to this concept. Let the current Court handle cases between states (and other cases specified in the Constitution). Then for other cases (the Court’s discretionary agenda), a random draw of appellate judges serve as the final review of cases. No amendment needed.

This poll from Cook is bonkers. A *huge* plurality of voters (43% overall, 61% of Ds) want Dems to focus on changing the political system overall vs. just opposing (21%, 36% of Ds) or working with Trump (35%, 3% of Ds).

A bit later than expected: SCOTUS stays the renegade federal order on MO congressional districts. No dissents. (Because the 8th Cir. was _that_ far out of line.) The elections under way will continue using the 2022 congressional map. The hardest part of the next six weeks: ignoring the noise.

People are hiding at home, afraid to go outside and encounter ICE. They're struggling to find food and holding kids out of school, as friends and family are disappeared in bunches. This is now the reality of daily life across the U.S., and I took a snapshot of what it looks like in one community:
