It is time for state and local governments to arrest masked officers who won’t produce warrants and who have no proof someone is undocumented. Kidnappers should be arrested and indicted and tried for kidnapping and serve the many years such sentences carry.

Thank you to everyone who made The Car-Free University Way a success! It was amazing to see families return to a space that was now welcoming for them. We are far from done. We intend to work with the UW student body, U District residents, businesses, and the entire community to make this real.

Someday, we’ll have streets like this in every neighborhood in Seattle and ask ourselves why it took so long.

The congressional budget office and every news outlet has always called expiring tax breaks that are renewed "tax increases," & cuts to planned taxes "cuts." But some rich people are mad now and the Seattle Times thinks both sides need their story told. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

seattletimes.comIs I-645 a ‘$13 billion tax break’ for millionaires and billionaires?I-645 would repeal a high-earners income tax that hasn't taken effect yet but could collect $13 billion — eventually. Tax break? You decide.

Every time @shirleyswirley.bsky.social posts something about urban water management, I learn something that is new, important, and surprisingly interesting (for a topic that is generally not a big attention grabber). Did so again here. I highly reocommend it.

400,000 drivers illegally speeding in just a month on two streets? How can that be true when NextDoor tells me it’s always people walking and biking who break the rules of the road???

Imagine that.

Enjoying a delicious dinner with a bunch of friends who live in SF. I told them about the narrative in Seattle that SF mayor Lurie has done an amazing job solving street disorder and crime. They all scoffed. “Lurie is good at social media,” they said. Problems remain unsolved.

I will not be adding more reasons why fall biking is the best because I am going to be out door knocking for @niluj.bsky.social - Fall biking is a great chance to ride to neighborhoods and knock doors for great candidates!

Hot take: Fall biking > Summer biking! For every like, I will share a reason why. Let’s Go!

She's big mad about leftycheatsheet.org because it's the first really serious attempt by grassroots progressives to build something that can compete with the moderate political operation that establishment c4s enable.

Idk/care who said this. But @tech4housing.org has played a HUGE role in social housing, candidate support (including the Mayor), rallying support for ambitious rezones, transit packages, and more. Deeply in the fight. Dismissing them is dismissing serious grassroots and critical funding.

Share the Cities Collective@sharethecities.bsky.social

Tech4Housing has done a tremendous amount of work with no budget for a decade. They just don’t talk about all they accomplish and let tons of other people take credit for their work. Referring to them as Tech4Whatever is so petty.

haters are like "what nefarious things is the lefty cheat sheet doing with their sneaky endorsement aggregator HMMMMMM??" but then eyeroll at any suggestion that a legacy alt weekly getting taken over by a wealthy centrist pol & his undisclosed ownership group could possibly be a bit shady 🙄

A few people I really like and respect (and who I thought were at least chill with me) are getting really annoyed at @electioncheatsheet.org which is a project I help with and would have been happy to talk to any or all of them about and I'm a little disappointed nobody just sent an email to ask 😕

The design of this building is exempt from building modulations, building setbacks, and tower separation rules because it’s made out of mass timber. Questions I have are, doesn’t it look good? If so, why do those rules exist? Do those rules actually make our buildings uglier?

Too many voters rely on just * two * sources of information to make their voting decisions. One of our motivations for @electioncheatsheet.org is that people could see more of a range of organizations that endorse. It’s customizable and in the same order as your Seattle ballot.

It is really fucked up that we cage people for decades— especially if that person did the same thing today, we wouldn’t. A person who didn’t physically harm anyone and has changed shouldn’t spend 95 years in prison and should be let out early, Gov. Ferguson. 1/ www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

This media situation creates such an uphill battle for progress in Seattle (and beyond). I wonder how many people in Seattle utilize alternate publications and/or local podcasts for their information?

Treatment-first (where you are not allowed to be sick with this chronic problem that is extraordinarily difficult to treat and uncertain in outcome) until you get housing, is the position of the Trump Administration. Housing first was is what scientists (and mainstream Dems like Biden) support.
