I do think when historians look back the period the exact moment where it flipped and started going the other way won’t be anything any politician did but my Minneapolis neighbors weathering the worst of the regime in the streets, rallying together, fighting back, and winning

Pete Hegseth is so morally bankrupt that even Trump knows better.

The part that struck me was their insistence that they know the kids at the UT game "aren't assimilated" because despite being at a football game and having the same shitty fashion sense and the same goofy hand gestures as white fans, they still look Indian. Gives the game away.

The amount of stupid takes about Argentina being racist because "they don't have a lot of black people, they must have gotten rid of them!" is off the charts. It's particularly grating coming from Americans and Europeans. Just read a fucking history book, people.

Actually, this should be standard procedure for candidates everywhere. Someone should ask Trump why did the Biden administration right the election so he'd win.

Reminder to Colorado journalists: if you’re interviewing a winning candidate who usually claims that elections are rigged, ask them why this election was rigged in their favor.

Yep. The value of corporations rolling out the rainbow carpet isn't what's in their heart of hearts, it's the society-wide signaling of "acceptance is good, bigotry is bad." Even if entirely insincere, it tells society "we think the majority of our customers expect this," and that's good!

JP@jpbrammer.bsky.social

I mean no disrespect but I can't believe we're still pretending "corporations never cared about Pride" is an interesting thing to say. even during peak corp Pride I think you had to be exceptionally dim to not get what was going on lol like yeah I think I know Chipotle would kill me for a nickel

I've been getting Google News 'articles' with titles like 'the newest sci-fi movie will blow your mind'. The movie? Super Mario Galaxy. They also only say the name after a thousand words. Is there a name for this form of click bai?

it’s incredibly blackpilling to me that it takes rising gas prices and rising gas prices alone to have people turn against the war in iran, and not the american government murdering thousands of children and civilians in iran. americans are incredibly selfish

Serious question. Does anyone have any personal experience or friend's/relative's anecdotes about making a permanent move outside of the U.S. in response to everything that's been happening with this administration? My wife is very scared for our son's future. We're U.S. citizens, but still.

Broadly speaking: reality tv is bad for democracy, influencers are bad for democracy, streamers are bad for democracy, YouTubers are bad for democracy. Exceptions to all categories exist, but it’s astonishing how absolutely clogged our political and media ecosystems are with low-info narcissists

We met for a drink mid-afternoon. We had so much fun, we decided to have dinner together. She asked if I wanted fancy or casual, I picked fancy. I guess that was the right choice, because we ended up closing the restaurant. So many good memories of that first date! We've been inseparable since.

This is an unapologetically sappy feel-good subject (at least, I guess, for people in a happy relationship”). So, to prepare for Valentine’s Day, what did you and your partner do for a first date? My wife and I went to tea at Huntington Gardens and walked around.

If my followers have been inspired by the fierce resistance the Twin Cities has put up to ICE, you should make it a point to take a trip here (April through October 😬), enjoy the wonderful things MN has to offer and support our small businesses. It continues to be a really tough time for them.

Listen to this. Not a penny more for this. Abolish and prosecute anyone who had anything to do with it.

"A modern-day concentration camp ... People have been killed by the staff here." Irish citizen Seamus Culleton has been in ICE detention since September, despite having a valid work permit and his own business in the US.

So, I accidentally just removed my whole Nest Wifi network from my Google Home, effectively forcing me to set up the whole mesh again. Apparently all it takes is fat fingering one single tap for this to happen. Awful UX.

happening this morning in Minneapolis -- ICE agents drawing guns on observers. I reiterate again that it is only a matter of time before DHS kills more innocent people in Minnesota. Congress needs to shut this shit down right now.

David Guaraglia reposted

Congress is going to respond with some "sensitivity training" level bandaid solution. What needs to happen is for ICE to be removed from the Department of Homeland Security, sent back to the Justice Department and stripped of its national security mandate. Bare minimum.

Honor his memory, prosecuted the murderers and the whole chain of command that enabled them.

Alex Pretti, the man killed by federal agents today in Minneapolis, appears to have been a registered nurse, an athlete, a son and a brother, with ties to Colorado and Wisconsin. Here is a photo he used for several accounts.

What happened in Minnesota today was not a mistake. It's a deliberate and inevitable outcome of ICE operations - part of the authoritarian script for state violence against citizens. Regime thugs target minorities Regime thugs kill protesters Regime exploits larger protests to escalate repression

This needs to be seen. People need to know the shit this fucking government is doing.

From my own experience living here: Walz is 100% correct.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Walz: "What's happening in MN defies belief. News reports simply don't do justice to the level of chaos & disruption & trauma the federal govt is raining down... This long ago stopped being a matter of immigration enforcement. Instead, it's a campaign of organized brutality against the people of MN"

Trump admits that this is nothing but political retribution. Minnesota voted against him three times and now he’s punishing us – putting lives at risk and wasting enormous resources in the process.

The reactionary centrist logic is simple: if the left does something bad it’s the left’s fault, and if the right does something bad, it’s also the left’s fault for making them do it. It’s a simple formula and once you see it every one of their arguments is the same
