If that's not a winning message I don't know what is.

Trump: "While oil prices are temporarily high ... the United States oil and gas business is making hundreds of billions of dollars"

Reagan talked about welfare queens in Cadillacs, Trump talks about Somalian thieves in Mercedes Benzes, because being *real* racist has been a core strategy Republican politicians for a very long time, even if prior to Trump a lot of folks who should have known better enjoyed pretending otherwise.

Trump: "Somalia -- 98% of the people here now from Somalia don't work. They don't have to work because they steal so much. They all have a Mercedes Benz. Low IQ and they live better than you do."

Polymarket can go fuck itself. As can the current managers of Major League Baseball for glomming them into the World Series broadcast. Just stop. Just fucking stop. MLB is basically a guy shaking a bottle of gin at an alcoholic and saying "Want some?"

The fact that the president's doctors are giving him the dementia test over and over again -- tracking his decline, most likely -- and that the president keeps bragging about having to take that test should be a five-alarm fire.

Trump: "You know, the first question -- they have a lion, a snake, a giraffe, and a bear. And they say 'which is the snake?' ... by the time you get to number five a lot of people are left out on the road ... I get no credit for it."

Glad to see more Democrats recognizing that if Elon Musk donates to your opponent, it is an absolute *gift* to you as long as you draw attention. He's a deeply unpopular, dorky white supremacist asshole who's using his billions to try and buy off politicians. Light. Him. Up.

Cait Conley@caitfornewyork.bsky.social

Elon Musk just poured half a million dollars into this race to try to keep his puppet Mike Lawler in office, just like he did back in 2024. But the Hudson Valley can’t be bought. Mike Lawler has sold out to his trillionaire and corporate backers at our expense —

I'm a doctor and a dad. I rebuilt Detroit's health department, led Wayne County's Department of Health, Human and Veterans Services. We put glasses on kids, took on corporate polluters, eliminated medical debt. It just shouldn't be this hard to get by in the richest country in the world.

We'll see if NYT says anything or if they keep their head in the sand.

Something is off with Trump tonight. The gaffes, the glitches, the confusion are well beyond his usual. "They gave the wonderful peace prize, right? Does anybody know the name of that peace prize? They gave the Pulitzer Prize to a young lady."

Jon Husted's ass is now a regular part of Trump's routine. Doesn't matter what state he is in. Ohio. Kentucky. North Carolina. Jon Husted's ass is always on his mind.

Trump: "I'm studying his body. I've never studied the body of a man before. It's not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But it's never been my thing. But I looked at his ass. I said, 'His ass, shit, it's like a pile of muscle.' Then I looked at his legs and I said, 'Man, his feet are big.'"

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Milwaukee Brewers is the first World Series matchup between two teams that have never won a World Series since the Phillies played the Royals in 1980. The time before that? 1920: Brooklyn vs. Cleveland. So it's not exactly a common thing. Enjoy it.

Dear Seattle Mariners owners: The Tampa Bay Rays, a historically bad team with a low, low payroll, is heading to their third World Series. You should be fucking ashamed.

This is the most pathetic motherfucker who ever lived.

Trump: "The first one is they show you a lion, a bear, a snake, and a giraffe. And they say, 'Which one is the giraffe?' I got a perfect score."

Ossoff: "The crisis we must meet is deeper than this presidency. Trump's rise is proof that business as usual has failed, that our politics, sickened by corruption, is failing the American public and compromising our national integrity. And that the hour is late to fix what's broken."

Marjorie Taylor Greene comes out with a statement opposing the raid on Ilhan Omar before Chuck Schumer, the leader of the Democratic Party

It is INSANE that Chuck Schumer hasn't put out a statement on Ilhan Omar yet

Before Citizens United, the top 15 political contributors spent just $15 million on the midterm election. Now, the top 15 have spent $962 MILLION. That's up 6,400%. THIS is why our system is so rigged. We really, really have to end Citizens United and tax the rich.

What is Florence Pugh KNOWN FOR, according to IMDb's algorithm? I guess she did a bunch of stuff, 2014-18, but not much since. Or nothing anyone’s heard about anyway. Poor girl.

Imagine showing this headline to someone from ten years ago and telling them “this actually represents a positive news day for us here in the future.”

The World Series champion this year will either be: * A team that has never won it * A team that has never won it * A team that hasn't won it since 1948 Makes me happy.

"shouldn't be this hard" is an all-encompassing, feel-it-in-your-bones summary of modern American life -- of difficulties big and small, existential and annoying -- that should be at the core of every Democratic candidate's message for years to come.
