In retrospect, Obsidian getting Pentiment out there into the world before Microsoft exploded really feels like they pulled off the weirdest heist in gaming history.

Update: even after we removed the entire sex quest, Steam mis-classifies Future? No Thanks! as pornography, making it invisible to most Steam users and completely geo-locked in Germany. We are currently at Gamescom in Cologne, everybody is asking us why they can't see the PAGE of a Teen rated game.

MRP students will take 4 electives in addition to these two courses; Thesis students take two. We also offer part-time options, which typically take 4 years. You must have a 4-year bachelor's degree and provide 2 letters of reference and a 1-page Statement of Interest by February 1 or earlier!

The program is in person only, but we accept domestic and international students for the MA. Come live in Canada for 2 years! We offer our MAs TAships in games and digital media classes. The amazing @sarahstang.bsky.social is our current Graduate Program Director and also teaches in the program!

The MA can take a few forms: 1) You undertake an applied Major Research Project (MRP), i.e. making a game with a supporting critical written component of 20-30 pages 2) You undertake an MRP that is a piece of critical writing, usually 40-60 pages, that focuses on a single topic, i.e. a mini thesis.

3) You undertake a research project that requires a thesis (80- 100ish pages), and you defend this orally at the end of the MA. All 3 options require 2 core courses, my Methodological Paradigms in Game Studies class, and Professional Practice in Game Studies taught by @profjay.bsky.social !

**Carly A. Kocurek** est professeure en Digital Humanities and Media Studies à l’Illinois Institute of Technology. En 2016, CBC Ideas lui a consacré un documentaire radiophonique intitulé « The Dangerous Game: Gamergate and the ‘Alt-Right’ », diffusé à l’échelle nationale. Conférencière primée, elle est co-autrice et co-directrice de Feminism in Play (Palgrave Macmillan, 2018) et ancienne rédactrice en chef de First Person Scholar. https://punctumbooks.com/titles/historiographies-of-game-studies/

Brain-fog-riddent #journorequest, but, for The Verge, I want to hear from gaming accessibility folks about where we are heading into 2026. What's going well, what's slowed down, what's to come? Is 2026 going to be a better year for accessibility? Hit me up in DMs or at the details in my bio.
