Despair is typical of those who do not understand the causes of evil, see no way out, and are incapable of struggle.

I think for the most part people see someone richer than them as having just nicer stuff than them. But if you’re rich enough you get access to new moneys you’ve never even heard of.

This feels more like it’s directed at Elon.

🚨 LEAKED: In a fundraising appeal, Mike Rogers told potential donors, "When you stand with my Senate campaign today, you are directly shielding Elon Musk" from potential investigations into the harm caused by DOGE cuts. Rogers asked for donations so he could "protect Elon."

I appreciate that people want a new Mass Effect, but the future where fans advocate for the work itself and not the people who make it is the one the vultures at EA want. If you'll take it however you get it, they can keep treating people who make what you love as expendable.

Cool Pastor: Yeah Nathan Fielder is a pretty cool guy. He loves his little stories. Showing us deeper and complicated truths. But there was another guy who used stories to tell the truth.

It’s going to be so embarrassing when I run for office and they write that I’ve been using government offices to host a brood war lan party.

The elections are on next Tuesday, and so much is at stake, including the soul of the Democratic Party when it comes to transgender people. I am asking you to leave a very small number of races blank in which a Democrat has embraced extreme anti-trans hate. I make my case here.

erininthemorning.comDon’t Vote For The Worst Anti-Trans DemocratsThe Democratic Party should, and likely will, win big in the midterms. We must not send the worst anti-trans voices to join them.

the bizarre machinations that will happen in the grab for power after trump dies between the Vance's blackhole of charisma, the brain worm riddled vizier, the roid raged drunk will be both silly and terrifying.

lol its neat that we keep teaching our allies that they can have to fend for themselves.

Diplomatic sources in the Gulf say Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman traveled to Tehran to negotiate a ceasefire with the Houthis that would see Riyadh transfer $1 billion to the group through Iran. One source claims the minister even brought the money aboard a military aircraft.

Good essay here from @juliaazari.bsky.social. Since Julia is in part asking for other social scientists to weigh in here, I thought I'd add some thoughts that have been germinating in my head for while. The main point is that the base of evidence that anti-trans ads 'work' is paper thin. (1/2)

During the brazilian elections we learned one obvious but important tactic to defeat the far right on the Internet and I think everyone should know it: IGNORE THEM! DON'T ENGAGE WITH THEIR CONTENT! DON'T MAKE CONTENT REACTING TO THEM! DON'T HATE QRT! LET THEM ALONE IN THEIR BUBBLE!

Bullshit. We made the Covid vaccine in 11 months. We can throw enough money and effort at any problem and solve it.

Actually, positive change is slow, difficult and incremental by nature. Destroying is fast, building is slow. It is easy to bring misery to people - any idiot can do it, as Trump shows - but very hard to improve their conditions. Building a better society is slow, careful, patient work.

these markets will always have a conservative bias because they self select for a certain kind of person who has both money to burn and thinks markets are a good predictor of human behavior.

Brazil elected Lula again tonight. Poll averages appear to have had Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro effectively tied, maybe Bolsonaro up 1 on Lula — so not sure why the markets had this race at 80-20 Bolsonaro. Markets might miss big in the U.S. midterms in 9 days too.

I think people intuitively understand that democratic candidates tossing trans kids to the wolves is not only morally repugnant but also politically ineffective, otherwise they wouldn't freak out every time someone said they weren't voting for a democrat who did this
