Good day for noting that big currency sell-offs in Brazil (like today) also tend to make global coffee and sugar cheaper. Big falls in the real give farmers more incentives to earn dollars from exports and increasing global supply. Arabica coffee futures are off over 3% today.

Trump: "Our country is making hundreds of billions of dollars on oil. and then on top of it we have Venezuela, and we have Greenland! 'We're making trillions of dollars. But my people said 'please don't mention that, sir, because people are paying a little higher'... we're making a frickin' fortune"

Frodo wakes. ‘Where am I?’ ‘In the House of Elrond. It is ten o’clock in the morning. The morning of October the twenty-fourth, if you want to know.’ ‘Gandalf!’ ‘Yes, I am here. And you are lucky to be here, too, after all the absurd things you have done since you left home.’

Napoleon "fixed" France by leaving it a country so beaten and broken it was forced to accept back the same royal family it had deposed and guillotined two decades earlier.

On escalators, I’ve been Hong-Kong-pilled and the only correct stance is for everyone to stand side by side on the escalators instead of creating a slow & fast lane with a queue at the bottom. Also an unenforceable policy (in the West). This is a game theory problem.

Jail time for people who stand on the left on tube escalators. Public stoning for people who walk at you looking at their phone. Stay tuned for more mad, unenforceable policy ideas aimed at minor daily irritations.

If there’s something I know about Parisians, it’s that they aren’t really the type to take part in a good riot.

I’ve seen it too and I really don’t get it… Might as well add Easter and keep it all year round in a “seasonal celebrations” aisle at this point 🤷🏻‍♂️
