Good dad phrase is “making a dent.” You can make a dent in a house project, a to-do list, a jumbo sized order of potato skins… anything really

You and I — all of us taxpayers — funded this $533 million artillery plant outside of Dallas. It hasn’t produced a single usable shell. Yet the defense contractor, General Dynamics, has never been held publicly accountable. Nor has it had to pay a penny back… 1/

Basic rules of society that we need to re-establish post Covid: - You actually have to stop for red lights and stop signs. - If you want to watch videos or listen to music in a shared public space, you need to use headphones. - Your pet does not need to go everywhere with you. - Don’t litter.

Thanks CM Lin, this is good stuff.

So grateful to have a Mayor who prioritizes getting PEOPLE around the city efficiently! This will increase the overall people moved through Denny lane, faster, and save countless people a lot of time. It's also an example of treating transit riders as equal citizens. A huge win.

"East New York — the first time the city had used a new tool called mandatory inclusionary housing that forced developers of market-rate apartments to include a percentage of affordable units — turned out to be a model for how to use rezoning to create more housing..without spurring gentrification."

Yay for more buses! And, one of the reasons I’m running is to give cities like Seattle more taxing tools, so they don’t have to rely on sales taxes so much. Mayor Wilson is making the absolute best of a tough situation, a situation that would be much better if Olympia hadn’t dropped the ball.

Ryan Packer@typewriteralley.bsky.social

Today, Katie Wilson is rolling out her proposed renewal for the 2020 Seattle Transit Measure, which pays for supplemental Metro service and other transit related programs. Wilson's proposal is expected to double the current 0.15% sales tax rate to 0.3% to fund dramatically more Metro service.

"It seems that reliability, not frequency, is the No. 8’s problem", wrote @fchi.bsky.social when Route 8's frequency was improved from 30min to 15min. "Will the extra No. 8 buses help, or will they just stack up 2 and 3 deep during rush hour?" 19 years later, SDOT is finally going to Fix the L8.

This is fine! America’s a big country. The problem is that less than 5% of new housing is built for the 44% who want walkability.

Conrad Hackett@conradhackett.bsky.social

Most Americans would rather live in a big house in a car-based community than a small house in a walking-based community. https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2026/03/19/majority-of-americans-prefer-spread-out-communities-with-big-houses/

We’ve gotten ourselves into a very perverse situation here. Going back to the drawing board in search of a cheaper alignment would severely delay a train to Ballard. But plowing ahead with the current proposal (truncation)… also doesn’t get us a train to Ballard.
