DT's trajectory from January 6, 2021 to being re-elected in 2024 only occurred as a result of the most egregiously successful propaganda operations in US history - the whitewashing of a coup attempt over the last four years will be studied by historians for decades to come.

The impact of vaccines was seen long after we had safe drinking water. Cholera and related water borne illnesses were mostly a problem before 1890 or so. Improvement in food safety, notably pasteurization, also helped, especially after the start of the FDA. But vaccines plus antibiotics were key.

Something very important to figure out before Jan 20, 2029 is whether, when a new President is inaugurated, they will control the computer system at GSA (i.e. doors to federal buildings) and Treasury payments system or if those systems will be somehow in the hands of DOGE cronies

I know this is a common belief, but it’s not true. If people went anti-vaxx/MAHA because they were excluded from the medical establishment, we would see sky-high rates among poor people, minorities and the uninsured. We don’t.

Huge props to the authors of this article for not giving an inch to lab leak truthers. It's perfectly defensible to classify it as a conspiracy theory at this point.

The obsession of many in the USA & the UK with borders is one I will never understand. As a student, seeing an iron curtain border as a daily reality sent a shiver up my spine. Meanwhile I‘m on a train from Strasbourg in France to Freiburg in Germany. No fences, border guards. The joy of Schengen 👍

Every one of these debates is the exact same thing: "Can you theoretically imagine someone abusing this for nefarious goals?" "Yes." "Is it happening?" "No or negligibly." "Are there safeguards in place?" "Yes." "Should we very cruelly over-react in ways that hurt people anyway?" "Yes!"

Here's why so much election analysis is basically useless: A race decided by a point and a half can be blamed on almost anything. Most party autopsies don't stand the test of time, and the narratives that get pushed are mainly exercises in confirmation bias www.gelliottmorris.com/p/2026-05-29...

There may be a prudential case against passing articles of impeachment, or conducting a trial, at least so long as Republicans remain committed to Trump’s impunity. But there’s no good case against invoking the impeachment power. The one Dems lean on is weak. www.offmessage.net/p/the-revisi...

the trans agenda is literally just trans people asking to keep the rights trans people had without much issue until a few years ago, when Republicans started trying to take them away and a frightening amount of Democrats decided some of that was reasonable

As Virginia Democrats beg the Supreme Court to save their congressional map, the reality of the situation is brutally clear: Democrats should’ve fought for voting rights 5 years ago, when they could’ve saved them, not now, when they’ve already been lost. https://bit.ly/436YqSS

As a Professional Engineer, I’m familiar with what is needed to practice. You have to take a multi-day exam, register with the licensing board, and receive continuing ed. No doubt for doctors these requirements are greater. El-Sayed presents himself as a practicing physician when he’s clearly not.

Team McMorrow@teammcmorrow.bsky.social

Turns out Abdul El-Sayed misrepresented, over and over, being a physician. He’s not. The truth? He’s never held a medical license, never did a residency, and never passed his boards.

This has to be the funniest question AND response I've ever seen in a poll. Less than half of Republican men think they could beat Trump in a fight. What a bunch of pathetic losers.

The midterm gerrymandering war and the Iran war alike show Trump's inability to imagine that the people he's picking fights with have any agency, any ability to respond. He loves his "you don't have the cards" metaphor but he's amazingly terrible at actually thinking about whether they do.

This is just astonishingly great reporting. All of the crises the White House has claimed over the last 14 months were planned in advance. All of them. And however much contempt you have for media outlets who reverently relayed Trump's claim to have no relation to Project 2025, it isn't enough.

All of this is fucking senseless. Minnesota did not have an immigration problem. Trump sent his Nazi thugs here because he's racist against Somali people and to own libs like Tim Walz. Now two Minnesotans are dead and Minneapolis is on the verge of going up in flames. None. Of. This. Was. Necessary.
