After a solid run of about 13 years at Double Fine, It seems I have found myself with an abundance of free time. If you know anyone hiring for games VFX, please let me know!

Oh man, the blobs! Never thought anyone would see this! Ultimately we went with more authored set pieces, but for a while you could smoosh the world with the light beam. Niagara particles sampling the gbuffer, a separate Niagara grid resampling the screen and accumulating. Lots of curl noise madness

For today's final installment of Keeper BTS, here is an early exploration showing how focused light could affect the environment, mostly the work of @floatvoid.com

Just remembered after Rage shipped I had some down time and I made an RTS mod. I had grunts gathering resources, shooting mutant waves, buildings. All done with only DoomScript and a horrible abuse of keybinds to entity triggers. I still love the old id tech. Kinda want to dust off my doom3 mods 😈

Flying through a bit of the first level of Keeper, directly in UE Editor. It's really important that editor view match the game as much as possible for faster iteration.

Hey! Do you need a highly technical character artist with almost 15 years of individual contributor and leadership experience? Looking for someone to wrangle your shaders? Or perhaps you need a person to assemble your character art pipeline? That's me! 🎨 www.xavierck.com 📫 xavierck.3d@gmail.com

Keeper is a uniquely fun project to support. Having played and captured the entire game several times over, the noir update was still surprisingly compelling. The vibe changed enough to require another full capture to understand how different compositions felt in monochrome.

this iconic advertising copywriter named Kathy Hepinstall Parks died over the weekend and I wanted to share something from her website I thought Bluesky would like

the fact there exists a subculture of wistful youth longing to embrace an aesthetic from before their time and that y2k breakcore winampskincore is a genre, and you immediately get that or you don't fills me with joy in joyless time

hey look at this video game i'm working on. it's pretty cool.

Looking through some old files and found this visual design test & render from Paul Pepera that I hadn't seen since he first showed me. It's a design explored prior to him landing on the final design (second pic).

Easily in my top games from the last 10 years. It will make a tank nerd out of anybody. A game with no plot and no narrative has the most immersive voice acting around.

Merry Christmas. I'm gonna shill our game! Gunner, HEAT, PC! is 20% off during the Steam Winter Sale! Enjoy some military vehicle combat set in 1980's Fulda Germany during the holiday season! store.steampowered.com/app/1705180/...

Cool I have exactly 486 followers right now. Can't wait till I hit Pentium. Seriously though, most are from the Realtime VFX list. I promise I will post some fx content eventually :)

Fun fact, like all games using cd audio, you could put the quake disc in the cd player and skip track 1, listen to the whole game soundtrack on your discman. In fact, as soon as I bought the game I cracked open the jewel case and reversed the paper and wrote NIN on it

Since there’s been such a huge influx of people, I figured I should make an intro post. Hey! I’m Aaron, a programmer at @doublefine.com, where I work on engine modifications, cameras, graphics, and whatever else needs to get done. Here’s a video showing the portals that I made for Psychonauts 2.

You are up to date.
