I know my husband talks in his sleep. Still didn’t help when we staying in a straw roof cabin in Nicaragua (12 deadly snake species!) and he woke me up by shaking me and telling me “be still-there’s a snake on the bed.”

Scoiattolo@scarnecchia.net

When we first started dating, @faineg.bsky.social once sat up, looked into a dark corner of the room and said “it’s in the room with us”, and laid back down, never having awoken. I, on the other hand, did not sleep after that

Mountain lions are making American roads safer by frightening away deer. On Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, where cougars were most active, deer-vehicle collisions fell 76%. Deer kill up to 440 Americans a year; cougars have killed 29 Americans since 1868. buff.ly/9bDfEKZ #ShareGoodNewsToo

Washington has been 100% vote by mail since 2011. I haven't voted in person since 2000. All of our ballots have individual tracking numbers and we get to watch them go through the whole process. It is the best voting system in the US.

I work in franchising and every other fast food brand is getting haaammmerrred. But Taco Bells are still highly desirable and very valuable.

emily s.@emily.news

i have strong priors (mostly based on vibes) that Taco Bell is the best fast food restaurant for how they treat their food and their employees and those priors keep getting confirmed

Lawyer: I gotta put him on the stand. He's got a tight five and can do crowd work, he'll kill. I mean hopefully not again, but we'll just have to take that risk

The Portland airport is truly the cleanest, most beautiful airport I’ve ever seen.

Cabel Sasser@cabel.panic.com

it's official: these new bathrooms in pdx airport represent the peak of human accomplishment. individual, private rooms. no gaps. a shared sink and waiting area. light, bright, pleasant. accessible. the toilet gold standard. we did it folks

One of the most stunning drives on the West Coast exists because Sam Hill thought it should. Then he built a lovely museum and filled it with the things he loved-the Romanian Crown Jewels, Rodan, and French fashion dolls. If you must be rich at least be like Sam Hill..

Max Kennerly@maxkennerly.bsky.social

We need more rich people with normal interests like "your movie sounds neat" instead of, like, white fertility rates.

My friend was a summer associate at a big firm. Her first week she went to a boat party. I was at the prosecutor’s office-I got to handle my own pre-trial calendar and went on a jail tour.

Mrs. Detective PikaBOO, Esq.@clapifyoulikeme.favrd.social

My favorite part is that as far as I can tell, “summer associates” are doing busywork and partying, while over in public interest land the interns are writing motions and appearing in court

You don’t hate country music, you just hate the same 100 songs of bootlicking corporatized trash about saluting the flag while drinking a beer in your truck at a football game next to your pretty silent wife in daisy dukes who also knows how to fish.

I have two teen boys. I KNOW they talk to their Aunties (blood and otherwise) about all sorts of stuff they can’t talk about to me! One boy is even doing a job shadow with one of them this summer. Bless the aunties and uncles!

Mine is presenting on an ABA panel with two other lady litigators. We all handle multi-million dollar “bet the company” cases. #ladylawyerdiaries

Hey ladies! What’s your “girly” job? Mine is AVP/Counsel at a F500 company.

Can’t wait to read this book!

David Dayen@ddayen.bsky.social

Franchise owners have become less like independent businessmen and more like a badly treated employee stripped of all their rights. Jarod Facundo reviews a new book on how franchisors put this legal regime in place. prospect.org/2026/04/10/a...

I’d leave private practice to serve on a task force like that in a heartbeat. A huge part of why I left prosecution was I was tired (spiritually) of putting poor people in jail but white collar defendants would be living the dream.

Micah@rincewind.run

there is a lot of talk about how hard it will be to rebuild the DOJ but I bet you could recruit a whole lot of extremely talented lawyers to form a white collar crime task force without much trouble and that would be my first priority after I form a prosecution squad to go after Trump admin crimes

I was this idiot. A quick course of rabies shots taught me!

The equivalent to this in Southeast Asia is “how do you react when you suddenly encounter monkeys.” You know someone is NOT from Southeast Asia if they’re all “oh, how adorable, let’s pet the monkeys.”

First time (and only time) I had a weed brownie I tried to befriend a raccoon and cried because the moon was so beautiful. Alaska weed is not messing around.

Saeed Jones@theferocity.bsky.social

Years ago in SF, I ate half of a weed brownie. It started to kick in and I basically ran home. On the way, I got a burrito at a joint around the corner from my house. The next day, I woke up with my shoes on in bed. I was cradling a plastic bag with the burrito inside it like it was my child.

This should be the first 70 degree sunny day in Seattle—-by law!

DriftlessFlyGuy@driftlessflyguy.bsky.social

There needs to be like 5 "too nice to work" holidays controlled by each state. Like a snow day, you don't get any advance notice. The stations and alerts just put out the message that the next day is too nice to work and everyone is off.

Franchise law is a TINY world. I planned a conference with my franchisor equivalent. We’re OC on at least a case any given time. He’s a delight. It’s a shame he’s wrong on literally every point of law but he’d say the same about me. This is the way it should be.

AkivaMCohen@akivamcohen.bsky.social

Unironically love my opposing counsel, who called me back after a meet and confer today because he forgot to ask how my family in Israel is doing (which reminded me to ask about his extended family in Iran). He's wrong about EVERYTHING substantive, of course, but just a good human being

I call my dad in tears from the law library. I had to take notes, re-read cases and sometimes I STILL didn’t understand. Clearly I had a brain tumor. He gently told me what I was doing was called “studying” and I just had never done it before.

Kingfisher & Wombat@tkingfisher.com

Alright, where are my gifted kids at? You were smart and you never had to study and then you went to college and suddenly had to learn a new skillset overnight, that everybody else had years to learn, or flame out spectacularly? That’s what talent is like.

Very proud of my Senator. @cantwell.senate.gov what will you do?

Senator Patty Murray@murray.senate.gov

Federal agents cannot murder people in broad daylight and face zero consequences. I will NOT support the DHS bill as it stands. The DHS bill needs to be split off from the larger funding package before the Senate—Republicans must work with us to do that. I’ll keep fighting to rein in DHS and ICE.

I’ve got two text threads going right now. One is organizing donations/volunteers for a HS band fundraiser. The other is organizing carpools for Ice out for Good. Same group of moms.

Faine Greenwood@faineg.com

I mean congrats, fuckers, you just made the wine moms even angrier now that you’ve directly and specifically threatened their lives

Rick Steves continues to be the best of us.

Rick Steves@ricksteves.bsky.social

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans. 🧵 1 of 9

I’ve got Mother’s Day sorted! Mimosa and this movie.

Caving on a deal that doesn’t fix health care is, and always has been, a giant betrayal of the American people. Hold the line. Save health care. I’m a NO on anything that doesn’t extend ACA subsidies.

Yes! I sent my boys through the O.W.L. Program at our UU church when they were 5 and 6. My 6 year old was baffled and asked me to confirm if the things he was learning were true so we had the Sex Talk on the back of a city bus . I still talk about with them regularly now that they are teens.

I paid $3000 a month in childcare when my boys were in Kindergarten and pre-k. My husband I both have solid jobs but daycare used up most of my paycheck. Harrell’s text ENRAGED me.

Seattle Bike Blog@seattlebikeblog.com

Bruce Harrell’s campaign just sent me one of the most out of touch campaign messages I’ve ever received. It says a lot about a person if they think grandparents helping to pay for child care is some kind of scandal. If this is the worst they’ve got on Katie Wilson, that’s practically an endorsement.

Whenever I’ve got the evening to myself, I check Saeed’s timeline to figure out what to watch. I think I’m going to skip this one.

Saeed Jones@theferocity.bsky.social

It’s been a long time since I’ve been this shaken by a movie. Wow. I guess this means it’s a good movie.
