An evening conversation with @ftw.bsky.social and @mindtheflap.bsky.social devolves into a discussion of the Great Emu War 1932, memento mori. avocado bathroom suites, the evilness of the name "Andrew" and whether Daleks have a trade union.

i guess the closest i have to a glib position is "you shouldn't have to pay a defence contractor to use a computer" plus "subsidizing tools that enable widespread fraud is bad" plus "you should not be surprise if people are judgemental about software that has killed several people"

This means that the increased price of RAM and consumer electronics was a result of an artificial "supply chain crisis" created by Jensen Huang pushing NVIDIA's customers to take early delivery of GPUs. Jensen Huang is responsible for making life worse for everyone.
NVIDIA seems to be channel stuffing, forcing Amazon and other customers to take early delivery. The argument that these things are "scarce" when you don't even have anywhere to plug them into is nonsense...unless NVIDIA is saying you NEED to take them now, or else. GPUs are stacked in warehouses.
Looking forward to Prime rising to £100/mo with even more ads on the no-additional-cost Prime Video tier. Would push me over the edge to cancel it tbh.
Business Insider also reporting that Amazon projects it would take delivery of $3 billion a month in GPUs “every month for the foreseeable future,” all while not having anywhere to put them, as part of an “early rack receipt” program. Extremely strange!
We've done it! We have released another podcast in the month of October. Prepare for almost 90 minutes of me, @mindtheflap.bsky.social, and @theorangeone.insanity.tube complaining about poor mobile game design and some Doctor Who related content. Listen below! www.podbean.com/eas/pb-r53bg...

Bethany wore a “Protect The Dolls” t-shirt during rehearsals. The BBC posted it on their socials then quietly deleted and reposted it without showing her from the front. On TV last night they actually blurred the message #Strictly
The year is 2066. Doctor Who writers are huddled over the last remaining dictionary in the country that hasn't been chopped up and fed to the scanners. The question on their minds: what words have yet to be placed in front of "Of The Daleks?" cruisingthroughdoomsday.podbean.com/e/breaking-t...

A24 is potentially doing something really fucked up here, but also they have the opportunity to do something extremely fucking cool and make the movie Creative Commons people would still pay to see it in theaters. but you want to benefit from a community project? then contribute to it
UPDATE: SCP Foundation have posted a statement saying they were not consulted or contacted about the A24 SCP project. scp-wiki.wikidot.com/statement-on...

Going for a dip in the sea with the boys (gone terroristic)
Extreme right-wing protesters are in a stand-off with the RNLI in Portsmouth. The group, led by Danny Tommo, are waist-deep in the sea and threatening to go "under the water" if police try to arrest them. Six lifeboats monitoring. Volunteer rescuers giving up their evening for this.

The glassholes are back
New: Target staff "pranked" for social media; a comedian filmed mid-set; a Sprouts worker whose boss started wearing Meta glasses; and a cashier worried customers are filming down her shirt. Meta glasses are in the workplace, and workers feel powerless to stop it. 🎁 www.theverge.com/report/98241...

I had a happy evening recording an episode of the podcast Breaking Through Circuits with @mindtheflap.bsky.social and @ftw.bsky.social, which should be out in a couple of weeks.
This podcast episode had to fight a Cyclops, got briefly turned into a pig, and nearly went mad from the siren song, but it's back home now to fend off the 108 other podcasts in your queue: cruisingthroughdoomsday.podbean.com/e/breaking-t...
