Interesting this kids cutting off abusive parents is an epidemic worthy of endless press coverage, but I've never seen hand-wringing op-eds about parents disowning their kids for being gay, transitioning, or having different religious beliefs.

This is absolutely true. Most people don't seem to realize it, but corporations don't care about morality. They care only for power. I personally wouldn't be surprised to see an outright act of corporate warfare in my lifetime. Companies see us as slaves and that won't change until we take action.
