If Americans need our little southern recipe for how to defeat fascism it goes like this:
- Put people in the streets by standing for popular demands (wages, healthcare, public services)
- Do not engage with fascists online
- Do not succumb to doomsayers or media-driven narratives
- Be happy
Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day.
Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.
Genuinely I don't know that it comes across to people who haven't been here to watch how almost unbelievable this was, just people taking something that looked impossible and dragging it kicking and screaming all the way to inevitability.
It's really funny that the thing in Stargate SG-1 that breaks my willing suspension of disbelief is not the ancient aliens, but that a branch of the United States' armed forces could so reliably and unfailingly be a moral stalwart.
Followed closely by them building the X-303 in complete secret in a humongous hangar in Nevada in less than two years.
Like, COME ON. That hangar alone would have taken at least three!!!
If you ask Pinocchio to keep telling lies and lop off chunks of his nose as it grows, you have a virtually infinite source of ethically(?)-sourced wood for carpentry and/or heating.

New: I pulled the Character ai bankruptcy documents. They show:
- They were spending $14 million/month on compute alone at a time their revenue was around ~$1 million/month
- Currently losing $9 million a month
- They admitted they enshittified & that it didnt work

this is the ultimate end point of capitalism, ai will completely atomize everyone and there will be zero shared experiences. there will be no culture, only pure consumption. this must be resisted
The Gorn warrior is wearing his traditional flexible rubber-like armour, shaped to resemble their ancient reptilian god of war.
This armour is pliable for maximum manoeuvrability in battle and yet resilient to the most vicious of karate chops
Astronomy news for spooky season: a zombie planet orbiting a dead (but still hostile) star.
Evidence suggests the following:
Star dies, expels outer layers, becomes white dwarf. Gas giant forms from the debris. White dwarf is now blasting planet with radiation, shearing off some of its atmosphere.
Initial page of sketches I did for B2EMO on Andor (as seen in @philszostak.bsky.social ‘s Art of Andor). Pay attention to the two bottom centre sketches - they are part of the genesis of the final design. More to follow

If you can spare the change, consider helping SETI's MARBLE mission get funded!
From the Moon's orbit this cubesat would observe our home and create a reference of what it would look like from light-years away; so that if we one day spot another Earth out there, we can tell what we're looking at!
🌎 Today is the last day to launch the search.
MARBLE is the SETI Institute's first space observatory. It will study Earth from lunar orbit and create the reference astronomers need to recognize a living planet around another star. 🧪 🔭
1/2 - Exactly how tall is Fry? Why can’t Bender look down at his own chest door? And what’s the one thing you should never do when drawing Fry’s teeth?

In 1956 the late great PETER CUSHING invited a film crew into his Kensington home to show off his hobby — painting miniature toy soldiers, and playing with them in the rules set down by fellow toy soldier hobbyist H.G. Wells.
The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

A space rock entering Earth’s atmosphere does far more than simply “burn up.” By examining 75 meteorite falls captured on video and in photographs, researchers identified seven distinct stages that transform an incoming space rock into a meteorite. 🧪 🔭
