"He said he wondered what might be happening in their lives that would lead them to assault a stranger. “I’m curious about them,” he told the Globe. “I’m hopeful that if we connect and they get to know me as a person, and I get to know them, that it might be the beginning of something good.”"

If they turn themselves in and agree to walk the trail for him every day for a month, he won’t press charges: "We can talk and I can get to know what’s going on in your life, how you see things, how you feel about things, and maybe you can get to know me as a person instead of a target."

If anyone ever tries to get you to watch a '90s Robert Altman noir with Tim Robbins but you're just not up for it, remember it could be worse: they could be trying to get you to watch a '90s David Fincher thriller with Michael Douglas. Don't hate The Player, hate The Game

at a screening and the guy in front of me is having to explain the concept of movie projection to his girlfriend. not film projection, but projection period, like that the image is being projected onto the screen, unlike a TV. she seemed baffled the light would be above her head.

I think a lot of you might not know about this music but I assure that if you are a fan of indie rock, this is way more foundational and influential than you might realize, as it was very popular among the 90s American indie bands

Did you know we’re below the minimum recommended amount of oil, and just barely above the *statutory minimum* in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve? Lowest level since 1982, and gas is still through the roof. What happens when the war in Iran kicks back off?

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

people who think Armond White is just a contrarian or a troll do not understand the depths of his derangement. some of us were friends with him on Facebook. he's on a whole other level.

Heartbreaking. So many memories there. Last concert I attended was the Polyphonic Spree.

The last waltz for Dallas' Granada will be April 17, give or take. The last supper at Sundown will come next week. The Granada has long been one of my favorite live-music venues; yours, too, likely. But in the end, I guess, we're all just temporary custodians. www.dallasnews.com/opinion/comm...

Trying out funny Halloween impersonations and my, "Why would I deceive you" voice sounds a lot like my, "it rubs the lotion on its skin" voice.

I had one of those days where everything went right, I did everything efficiently, and I didn’t drop anything. These days happen like once a month now, so I’m super proud. Tell me about your day. Is this universal?

On my morning walk, there are two houses covered in Republican signs and the house in between them has Halloween decorations consisting almost exclusively of dead children.

RIP to Tom Skerritt, one of my very favorite actors in some of my very favorite films. What a kind and good human being he was, too. I will never forget his visit to the Pickford for a screening of ALIEN; his warmth to all of us and his generosity of spirit will stay with us for a lifetime.

Sure, why not?
