I agree completely

A very bleak survey being sent round about @ucu.org.uk Congress. Very clear from the suggestions in the survey that the current NEC wants to water down democratic processes and limit the power of Congress. This is intensely political b/c delegates have tended not to support current leadership.

Day 4 of the UCU workers' strike against massive job cuts. “Senior management can stop this strike by prioritizing cuts to non-staff budgets and stopping redundancies that are decimating our university, while leaving those who remain with an unmanageable workload & exhaustion." UCUE co-president

Day 3 of the UCU workers' strike against 1000s of job cuts at the University of Edinburgh. UoE's VC Peter Mathieson earns nearly half a million pounds. Under him, the UoE has acquired over £1billion of capital assets, for which the UoE continues to pay in spiralling interest and depreciation.

Day 2 of the UCU workers' strike at the University of Edinburgh. The 1,800 jobs UCU estimates will be cut is unprecedented in Scottish higher education. It is happening in the wealthiest Scottish university, and the third richest in the UK, currently sitting with over £3billion reserves.

Scenes from the Picket Lines: Day 2 of the UCU workers' strike against the University of Edinburgh's avaricious, exorbitantly paid senior management and their campaign of mass cuts against staff.

Day 1 of the strike by the workers of UCU Edinburgh against the manufactured deficit (which is not really a deficit), and against a senior management earning millions while staff disappear and education suffers. Solidarity against this parasitical form of management of our higher education.

Day 1 of our strike at the University of Edinburgh while senior management shrugs and says 'crisis, what crisis?' at the complaints about the inevitable falling educational standards and job losses.

Our members at Edinburgh University commence a 5 week strike today over crippling job cuts. Please show them solidarity as they head onto picket lines this morning.

Oh look, a new top-down, abstraction of a ‘campaign’ that completely disregards the democratic decisions that have already been made and the real fights we are in the middle of 🤯.

“Every lost job, every course closed and every cut to student support is a political choice.” Dr Jo Grady Scotland’s universities face a £200m funding gap. The consequences are already clear: job cuts, course closures and staff and students pushed to breaking point.

Reminder: - Migrants didn’t sell off our country’s social housing stock, successive governments did. - Everyone deserves a secure, affordable place to live. - Evicting our friends and neighbours is cruel, divisive and would do absolutely nothing to solve the housing crisis 🧵

What is the actual national strategy for opposing cuts/redundancies outlined here? "a rounded UCU approach" Reject the pay offer but vote no to IA over pay to "send a clear[?] message to UCEA that this is unacceptable" Instead focus on "amplifying local redundancy disputes" No strategy at all.

Secret UCU@secretucu.bsky.social

Threatening the whole 5 member equality team with redundancy is definitely a new low for UCU. Don’t senior managers have better things to do than attack their own staff - again? The chasm between the equality rhetoric and the toxic reality for staff is truly shocking. #solidarity
