Not a lawyer, but guessing there is an inverse correlation between the credibility of a legal argument and a government's willingness to make that argument in public.

This DHS memorandum says that the DHS General Counsel's office has adopted a new position that the Fourth Amendment allows entry into the home to make an arrest just based on an administrative warrant. I would like to see that argument. documentcloud.org/documents/26...

This whole, "sexual assault and harassment is bad when Trump does it, but ok when our side does it," is sending a really clear message that the old guard of Democratic leadership only cares about women when it's politically advantageous. www.politico.com/news/2025/06...

Reserving judgement until more information comes out, but I’ll say this: The evidence in this case better be very, very compelling. Arresting *judges* is a slippery slope and not a line that should be crossed arbitrarily.

Don't overlook this: Trump is leaving Abrego Garcia to rot in a foreign gulag even though the admin can always bring him back and *retry him for deportation in a lawful way.* That they won't do this shows their case against him is nonsense. New piece from me: newrepublic.com/article/1939...

Trump has damaged America forever. We're now viewed as an unreliable partner - business can never trust him and any government policy - our allies don't see us as an ally anymore - our enemies are emboldened. Trump destroyed our soft power advantage.

“What Vance meant is that this protected status for Haitians was itself illegitimate because he said so, and therefore it didn’t count. That’s what he means in Abrego Garcia’s case too: He “had no legal right” to be here because Trump and Vance have decreed it so.” Go read @gregsargent.bsky.social

A note on JD Vance's repulsive response to the deportation of a Salvadoran in "error": The whole point of his stunt is to show that Trump feels free to remove people even when the law *doesn't* justify it. I spoke to the man's lawyer. Absolutely hair raising stuff: newrepublic.com/article/1934...

You simply lose track of their depravity at times. It's hard to keep up.

Something is fundamentally wrong with America when millions of dollars can’t buy you a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat, the respect of your children, the silence of your baby mammas, or a functional penis implant.

Between @booker.senate.gov's magnificent, soaring oratory and stamina plus the volunteers' effort up to the last hours in Wisconsin I have renewed faith in our fellow Americans' devotion to democracy. We can do this. But it takes all of us. Remember April 5 is coming up.

Finally, after a relentless two-month beat down we finally can celebrate something.

I feel confident in predicting history will judge this decade or so as the absolutely stupidest time in American history. Honestly our kids and grandkids will read about this time and be shocked that adults existed.

This flew under the radar, but Trump revoked a minimum wage hike for companies that contract with the government. An estimated 390,000 workers will now see significant pay cuts. It's not surprising that Trump's populism is fake, but it's hardly ever been more clear.

Okay. Here is what I want out of DOGE. I want all "Five Things" responses available to the public. They're already stripped of sensitive information, so why not? Let everyone see what's really going on.

The reality, of course, is that Elmo doesn't want anyone to see the truth, which would reflect horribly on his thesis and actions. Also, his only goal with this is to humiliate and discourage us.

After years of intending to acquire F-35 fighter jets from the US, Turkey will now purchase 40 Typhoon jets from Britain instead. Turkey was one of the original 9 partner nations in the F-35 program and had plans to purchase 100 F-35s.

If we continue on the current erratic path, US allies will greatly reduce US arms purchases, potentially costing us trillions of dollars over the years. The US military industrial base could then collapse unless the US actually goes to war, necessitating industrial mobilization.

The battle of our day is no longer about Democrats versus Republicans or left versus right. The choice right now is democracy or dictatorship. And we're sliding faster than I ever thought possible into the latter. Everyone must choose which side they’re on.
