I don't know that there is a definitive line to cross that makes you say, "I live in a police state now" but when masked gunmen can routinely brutalize the public, citizen or immigrant alike, with impunity, you have reached that point.

Kavanaugh stops in action: ICE tackled a non-verbal kid near his school, left him with injuries requiring surgery, and then left the scene when they realized he wasn't the person they were looking for www.independent.com/2026/10/23/i...

the other night i was going on about keanu reeves movies and didn't even mention "a scanner darkly". a tale of a societal panopticon. not unlike our surveillance state where the notion of privacy is all but dead and buried. a movie about the people lost to drugs and the so-called war against them

We tried "everyone is entitled to an opinion" for three straight decades and all we have to show for it is four thousand cases of measles and a death cult running the government. It's time for people who don't know what they're talking about to shut the fuck up.

We'll see how far the attempt goes, even if it will clearly fail. But a constitutional system that sees such an attempt by its chief executive and then leaves him in office has already been shattered. Merely trying is betrayal enough and places him outside of constitutional or democratic legitimacy.

In November, Dems will likely win big. Liberals will feel relieved. In 2028, a milquetoast corporate Democrat will win the presidency, spend 4 years maintaining what Trump did as liberals go back to brunch. Then, in 2032, as life keeps getting worse, we’ll get something like President T Carlson.

Draw Whatever #Inktober 2026 Day 23: Usagi Yojimbo A sketch I had prepared beforehand because I wouldn't have time for drawing for two days.

i remember in high school, there were jokes about how "keanu reeves can't act" (similar with k stew, both undeserved). i know he will always be most famous for the matrix and john wick. definitely legendary films. but i'd say nothing he has ever done could top his performance as johnny silverhand

it's just incredible though. silverhand is a top shelf asshole and piece of shit worthy of scorn and derision. even his memories are lies (?) idk. but like. his performance and something about the game. by the end of that dlc, he's like a close friend. the brother i wish i would have had.

i did have a brother, btw. he was an alcoholic asshole. i couldn't stand him at any point in our lives. i HATED his guts. i still have nightmares that he's alive and back in the house. can't help but wonder sometimes, how different things could have been under other conditions, with my whole family

i guess it's not a fair comparison because he's mostly a movie actor and cyberpunk 2077 is long as hell and then got a huge dlc. the endings of the main game all kind of blur together. the dlc more so. in my mind they all exist together in some kind of super position

cyberpunk 2077 didn't click for me the first time around. i was only experiencing it as a chat moderator in some twitch streams around the nightmare release. i guess i was keeping my distance because i've been burned by bethesda, but unlike bethesda, CD projekt red just kept polishing the game

i still don't really know why, but the world of cyberpunk 2077 is one of my favourite settings. walking around night city, even as ridiculous as it is, something about it just feels like a place that could actually exist. i was going through some health issues. still am. always have, always will

10 years ago i think i really would have hated CDPR for how they handled panam. but i don't care what they say. authorial intent can only mean so much. for me, V spent the rest of her days riding the desert roads with the love of her life and her new nomad family. Today Was A Good Day

eventually i ended up checking out the cyberpunk edgerunners anime and wow. after that? i went back to experience the game myself and it was incredible (very long after the launch mess, of course). and now there's an edgerunners 2

20-ish years ago i learned in a journalism class about what was then a 30-ish year old film, Network (1976), which is about how we've been boiling in this water for a very long time indeed. I'm as mad as hell and i'm not going to take this anymore

"We certainly do need to abolish ICE, but that cannot be the only goal. The agency’s abuses are not new, not created by Republicans alone, and not distinct from other enforcement agencies: they are tethered to otherwise normalized carceral and militarized infrastructures that will persist..."

Democrats need to be ready to hold hearings and inquiries into the assault that Musk, Zuckerberg and other tech bros are making against democratic institutions at home and abroad.

“Do you think that Trump is attempting to overthrow democracy?” I asked. “Because I do, and think it’s obvious that he is. And I think that the fact that mainstream media won't say it makes it more likely that it’s going to happen.”

Ghost Girl reposted

Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

You know, the thing is, I had drafted this piece a month ago, and then never published it, because I thought maybe it was too mean.

There is absolutely no viable path forward for this country that doesn’t hinge on extreme accountability for everyone involved in this administration. They’re going to whine about politicization and credulous media types will echo them, but the thing is, they’ve committed tons of obvious crimes!

I do not think an exec branch led by a man who thinks he is entitled to treat federal agents as an arm of his firm, refers to Somali Americans as “garbage” and has said racist things specifically about Omar is capable of neutrally applying the law to her, to put it mildly apnews.com/article/ilha...

as much as i enjoyed Lanterns while it was airing, ultimately the budget killed it and it let me down (just a little bit), which i hate because it plays into the hands of the manufactured outrage farms who absolutely do not deserve wins of any kind

dear video game guide videos on youtube, please say what the hell it is you are doing in the video and also explain why. out loud and in text. also in the description if you don't mind. i miss gamefaqs (circa 2000) (also btw fuck all these clickbait online guides. no i won't turn off adblock)

there is more than one group of people going around randomly executing people in the streets, and that needs to be stopped. propaganda stops most people from even being able to see most of it. but if those groups can't or won't stop, then they need to be put down like the rabid dogs that they are.

the reason “AI will create so much abundance we will have a utopian society” rhetoric falls so flat is that the people building it will never, ever share their bounty unless it is taken from them and we all know it

I've been immersed in research on Reconstruction in Lousiana and it's a very difficult truth to absorb that the white terrorist movement in the South was among the most successful terrorist movements in global history. Took 10 years but it won a total & complete victory through murder and atrocity.
